Was searching for a good bahn mi close to home and after reading the reviews I had to try this place. The 1st thing you notice when you walk in this place is how warm it is and that's why people wait outside for their order. There is also a screen with a speaker box outside so once your order is ready the number comes up on the screen and is also announced via the speaker. I wanted to try a few things so I got the crispy roast pork bahm mi, vegetable spring rolls and the dim sims. The spring rolls are made/cooked to order so they are pipping hot and super tasty. They also come with lettuce and a sweet chilli dipping sauce. The sauce does not seem to be home made unfortunately. 4 for $8 is what a serve of spring rolls will set you back. The dims are really good, hot, fresh and they are very generous with the soy sauce. If you are a lover of dimmies you need to try these and 3 for $6.50 is solid value. Now for the main event, the crispy pork bahn mi. For the 1st time ever pate and chilli aren't included in the roll unless you ask for it. Unfortunately I was not aware of this until I was eating said bahn mi. The pork was OK, but wasn't the star it should have been. The pickled carrot added good flavour as did the hoison sauce. It also had the other regular additions of cucumber, margarine, coriander and onion. Will I be back, yes. But I'll certainly be asking for chilli and pate for my bahn mi. There are also so many other items I want to try. So I came back and tried the crispy pork with chilli and pate. Unfortunately this didn't take it to the next level and the pork still didn't have any flavour. I also tried the cold rolls which were made to order but they didn't really have enough herbs to give it that fresh/refreshing taste.

In Brunswick West on Melville Road is this unassuming shop with constant queues along the footpath. Famed for their bahn mi, the Vietnamese baguette with pate, pickled carrots, cucumber, coriander and a filling, the roast pork is a must. Tender juicy roast pork with crunchy golden brown cracking packed into a roll, one bite and this is no ordinary roll. Each bite is delicious and washed down with some Vietnamese iced coffee, even better. I also got the dim sim which is so yum. Get in line, place your order, and wait for your ticket to be called on the loudspeaker, can't be easier being served by the friendly staff. Tram stop is outside the shop. #Vietnamesefood #takeaway #asian #bahnmi #roastpork #crackling #Vietnamesecoffee #baguette #lunch #dimsim #foodie #melbournefood @zomatomelb

Well worthy of a top Banh Mi in Brunswick. Let's start with the positives. The bread was crunchy with a bit of chewiness added to it. Not to mention the ingredients are packed in and the flavour is quite delicious. Sadly the downfall would be the pate (or lack of). A good typical banh mi generally includes pate in the roll. I should have read the previous reviews stating pate needs to be requested. But if you're paying $10 for a banh mi, you'd expect there to be the typical ingredients that normally be in there. This banh mi is definitely on the pricier side, and their menus need to be updated online so people know what to expect when going in. Perhaps when the staff are asking if we want chili or anything extra, to maybe include the pate prompt? Just a suggestion :)
