Unfortunately we had quite an upsetting experience at this bar recently.
Some colleagues and I were here on Friday afternoon for after work drinks and a bit of a reunion with old colleagues when the cyber outage happened and the staff didn’t deal with things well. They explained they couldn’t accept card, which was of course fine, but there were inconsistencies with their approach to people being allowed to come into the venue once they’d decided to restrict entry.
At one point they locked doors and a friend of ours couldn’t get back in after being outside to make a phone call. As another of our friends was leaving, I held the door open and she came back in so she could finish her drink and continue the lovely afternoon with all of us. At the same time another man came in. A female member of staff stood by the door and informed them they weren’t letting anyone else in. The man said he had cash and walked on in and my friend explained she was here before and her drink was still on the table, then she walked past the staff member and myself and came in. A few moments later a female manager asked to have a word with our friend and informed her she had to leave as the member of staff from the door said our friend had pushed her, which is not at all what happened - I was stood by the door holding it open as she came in and went by us both. This was an incredibly embarrassing situation for my friend and our entire group as we were not even one finished drink in to our catch up and it made our friend out to have done something she didn’t and wouldn’t ever do. She dealt with it gracefully and just left as she didn’t want to cause a scene, but it left the rest of us with a sour taste in our mouths. We then saw various people walk on into the bar, no questions asked, while we finished our drinks and the doors must’ve been unlocked. This inconsistent approach among staff just added fuel to the upset in the group and we left, but not before I spoke with a male manager expressing our disappointment with the venue after so many previously good experiences. He was incredibly reasonable and I wish he’d dealt with this matter from the beginning to be honest.
This bar was once a great local place to go for casual after work drinks and snacks, but it’s sadly now been tainted and we won’t...
Read moreIve been to this venue about half a dozen times. (I am intentionally including genders of staff so that if management reads my review they have a good idea about who I am referring to). Food is inconsistent but generally worth the price. Each time, there were female waiting staff in the bistro, who have always been professional, friendly and very helpful! I've gone into gaming twice. The female staff member was efficient, the male staff member was rather lazy and disinterested. The bar staff were hit and miss. A few young males and a female that I have interacted with over about 4 visits (one is a manager) are knowledgeable, polite and efficient. The other half of the times I've been served by people with attitude. Specifically, during my last visit, a VERY rude young female was serving in the sports bar. It was very obvious when she was pretending to do something meaningful instead of serving people waiting. It was also noticeable that she would avoid serving females customers. But the most offputting behaviour was when this female stormed (no exaggeration) into the smoking area and yelled abuse at a customer. I don't know or care what the issue was, a security guard spoke to the customer and nothing more came of it. But such unprofessional behaviour in front of so many customers?! This display has put me off going back to the PVH, which is a shame as the outdoor area is really lovely especially on warm days, there is a good variety of sports televised including UFC; and I like that the venue involves the community, like with their Dogs' Home...
Read moreWe booked a birthday dinner for 30 people at 7:30pm a week and a half prior, yet they were still severely understaffed. All our meals, except two, took an hour and a half to come out, and they even forgot two of our meals. The female manager was extremely rude, basically calling us liars for saying we ordered something that they didn't have (fisherman's plate), even though it was on the menu and we were never told we couldn't order it when we went to actually order it! We were offered absolutely no compensation or apology whatsoever.
Through no fault of the venue, one lady from our party tripped and broke her wrist, but there was absolutely no sense of urgency whatsoever when we approached the bar staff and managers for a first aid kit, or even just a triangle bandage to put her arm in a sling. Fifteen minutes after the incident, the manager, who was apparently trained in first aid, finally came to us with a triangle bandage but had absolutely no idea what to do with it! Luckily, we had an osteopath in our group so he had to take the bandage from the supposed first aider venue manager and bandage the lady with the broken wrist himself because the manager was completely clueless!
Extremely disappointing effort by the staff and the managers on all accounts. Will not be attending this...
