Good food and service. Our favourites were the chargrilled squid and san choi bao. High recommend.
-1 star because it was the first time that when we ordered rice paper rolls, we needed to wrap the rolls ourselves (by hands)… We didn’t like this idea because of hygiene concern and it was not a good experience because not everyone knows how to do that. Although the waiter briefly explained how to do the wrapping, it was impossible for a group of eight to learn it at that moment considering the environment was very noisy. so it became a bit messy… We hope we can get wrapped rice paper rolls next time. It is easier for the restaurant to control the food quality and taste, and more convenient for the customers. (Imo, a user-friendly product doesn’t make users think.) Or the restaurants can provide options, wrapped or DIY.
Another -1 star because I was not notified there was a minimum spend of $59 per person for a group of 8 people until we arrived. It was our first time dinning here. I booked through TheFork and I even made a call before the meal to confirm the booking but they still didn’t mention the minimum spend. It put me into a very awkward position because it was me who suggested this restaurant to my friends and made the booking. And it was like I caused each of my friends to spend $59 without their consent. When I asked why I was not informed, the manager explained they had been open for 5 years and the minimum spend was there. Honestly, this was not an explanation a customer would like to hear. I understand we could just leave but it would be difficult to find another restaurant because we were a group of 8, it was Friday night and we travelled 30 mins to get here. We just hope that customers can be informed of the minimum spend during or after...
Read morehere we received some of the most memorable service. the staff will go above and beyond to not only service you to their best but also be your friend!!
we came to QT for a birthday celebration and over modern Vietnamese food, winning several RCA awards for excellence and admirably Vietnamese Restaurant of the Year in 2022!
as a birthday treat they served each drink with some steam and fire, they were so pretty to watch!! (peep the 🍑 shaped glass last slide lol).
entrees came out hot and fast. 🥵 each packed with flavour. the juicy prawn dumplings with soy jus and chilli truffle oil stood out. they offered us their kingfish despite not ordering it, SO thick and fresh! with mains the meal just got better. each piece of meat cooked perfectly and until so tender. the slow cooked lamb shank in massaman curry was WOW. soooo comforting, hearty and sweet. this hit the spot combined with their truffle rice in banana leaf….flavour. town. 🤩 steak was salted well (and way more than 300g 😅), beef falling off the bone, and their slaw added a refreshing bite.
despite our fullness we ordered one dessert for celebratory reasons but to our shock the kitchen sent out all their desserts?!! bless. 🙏🏽🥹 their pandan crème brûlée stood out being both vibrant in colour and flavour.
hats off to their exceptional service. from the moment we stepped in we were welcomed warmly. regular checking in, wiping tables, topping up water and filling us in any menu details we needed. they even gave us roses for the birthday! never seen that in a restaurant before.
their food is executed well and service is what really took this experience to the next level! i highlyyyy recommend QT to everyone (esp for groups so you can try a lil bit of everything - their menu...
Read moreOne of my favourite places to eat at in Glen Iris! I have been here twice now - once for dinner in 2021 which was busy, and just recently in 2022 for lunch which was not as busy as dinner, but still buzzing with customers.
Both these times the staff were so friendly and accommodating. As soon as you step in the door you are greeted with welcoming smiles and tended to almost immediately. They will talk you through their recommendations if you ask for any, and they will check in on you throughout your meal without being too intrusive.
The ambiance, and the restaurant setting overall is very well laid out, with nice cultural touches of Vietnam.
The food tastes incredible, and came within a reasonable timeframe. Pictured is their vermicelli noodle salad with lemongrass beef. The sizes of beef were very generous! They were so soft and tender. The dish also contained peanuts which was a nice extra textural component; some fresh vegetables, just the right amount of chilli, and a delicious Nuoc Cham sauce.
In terms of drinks - they have a selection both hot and cold drinks. Pictured is QT’s lychee, coconut and mint drink - flavours came through strong which was a surprise as drinks similar to this kind of drink tend to taste more watery to me.
They always also have such a great selection of desserts out front. Highly recommend any of their cheesecakes and/or their panna cotta. Pictured is their cookies and creme cheesecake.
12/10 if I could provide it, honestly. Tasted amazing. Have been twice and...
