Setting was absolutely beautiful with a lovely hot afternoon we opted to sit outside. Music was awesome and other guests extremely friendly. Booking in was made easy by Jade. We were well aware of ordering our own drinks and meals at our leisure, which we did with respect and patience. Our waitress even let us borrow her personal pen to jot down our order ourselves. She was lovely.
The day was busy.....staff under the pump but we waited patiently at the bar waiting for our turn to order. Unfortunately, as the day progressed the friendliness of the bar staff seemed to disappear. There was obvious tension between the male & female staff. I believe they needed extra staff to help them cope with the number of customers. At no point did l see or hear customers become impatient or vocalize with staff, but we had not recieved the same respect. My girlfriend ( the birthday girl) helped me carry our first round of drinks for the day....she unfortunately had the tray of beers drop to the ground as the owner held the door open. She was extremely embarrassed. Later that arvo, now ordering cocktails, she tried to chat to female bar staff to reassure her that she also worked in hospitality and could see how hectic it was. The reply she recieved was.. "So you worked in hospo, but can't carry a tray with 3 beers!"
Service and staff was definately the "let down" for our day! We had 3 meals just not show up until everyone else had been finished for 25 mins Lovely food mind, but service does not match the quality of the venue. Not sure if we will return as bar staff were just...
Read moreNice old style homestead venue set in a lovely rose garden. Our food was tasty and well presented as we expected for the above average price. My group attended for a special occasion but we found some things confusing. The entrance is one way and you drive thru to find restaurant parking ( a few of us parked in the first half of carpark as when following the sign it seemed to be a dead end ....it was not and went around the corner) We also struggled to find the restaurant entrance- and went to the locked chapel building first. I had seen a Wednesday pasta and wine special for $29.95- but we were not offered this, nor any daily specials. Despite pre booking, our allocated table was the only one WITHOUT a tablecloth, and we couldn't work out why since there was another table exactly the same with rounded edges that had a tablecloth and white paper covering. Despite the restaurant being not busy, service was extremely slow. No parmesan cheese was offered for the pasta dishes. Took a while to get initial order and drinks. We had to ask for plates to be cleared at one stage AND to get a dessert menu post meal. No bill was presented on completion and we struggled to find WHere to pay the bill- after approaching the register, we were directed to the unattended bar near entrance...and then had to wait to settle bill. Overall we enjoyed the food, the classic decor and atmosphere, but felt service and signage need to be improved to reflect the fine dining standard set by food...
