Somerville Charcoal Chicken — Restaurant in Melbourne

All I can say about this place is avoid unless you want to be spoken to in the most rude unpleasant manner by whom I presume is the owner. Have never been in here before and I was trying to order takeaway (would have spend probably around the $100 mark) and he was very rude when I requested wing sections. I told him no worries I would order something else as several of my family wont eat leg sections so I said give me a minute and I’ll re think my order he then began yelling at me saying I can’t come in here expecting these things - I told him settle down no need to come at me I already said Im happy to order something else but he kept going on this bizarre rant at me telling me how tired he is and he’s sick of customers doing this to him?! At that point I said no worries I’ll leave and he said good. Not great way to operate a business. I was actually taken aback by his aggressive behaviour.

Edit: From reading the other negative reviews about the incredibly rude owner it seems to be a common theme at this shop. I’m sure I will now get put on the ‘banned/do not serve list’ with everyone else who leaves a negative review of your business. A few months ago, my husband ended up in hospital with food poisoning, he was very ill and in there for over a week. The day prior he ate their chicken. We had a suspicion it was the chicken but not entirely sure. He had campylobacter which can be from undercooked poultry and incorrect food handling. Because we were not certain. We had the chicken again a few weeks ago as it is his favorite chicken shop. The next day I got very ill with food poisoning, and we knew it was the chicken. I had severe diarrhea for two weeks. Obviously, there is something wrong at this shop, either the food preparation or in the cooking process or both. We will no longer be buying any food from this premises. Nothing special at all.

The store was reasonably clean and I was served promptly however that is for the most part where the positives end.

Ordered a chicken roll which you would usually expect to have mayo & stuffing on and perhaps cheese. We got plain chicken stuffed into a roll that was bland. Though both the roll and chicken were Cleary fresh.

The chips were decent but nothing special, and quite a large portion. We got a small which was huge.

The drinks fridge was poorly stocked and our preferred drinks were all out of stock forcing us to pay extra for an upgrade size which was still not our preferred drink but better then than van options.
