Probably the worst cafe experience I’ve ever had..and I’m one of those people who never complains and hates confrontation. This was mine and my girlfriends first time visiting this cafe as we live local and were excited to try it out, all seemed ok at first when our drinks order was taken, however we then waited 20 minutes before our food order was taken (it was not busy despite the owner or manager saying otherwise), we ordered the ‘The Field of Dreams’ which then took about 40 minutes to come out, when it did, the order was wrong, missing items, had items that weren’t displayed on the menu in it, disappointing and the side of bacon was cold. When we went to go inside and pay, we politely brought it to the attention of the manager (we think) who then decided it would be a good idea to bring out the chef and discuss what was wrong, this was quite intimidating, the owner proceeded to try and charge full price and then when I said ‘but the order was wrong and missing items’ said ‘well it was missing chickpeas so I’ll take a dollar off’ in a condescending and rude manner. My partner is a chef and she had to come in and explain everything again to this man. He argued with her and wouldn’t budge on the price, and tried to accuse us of eating the food which we didn’t, (only the hash brown and bacon) the chef even admitted that there were missing items yet didn’t tell us? I understand hospitality can be a difficult industry however when a customer complains about something LEGITIMATE such as waiting, and getting the wrong food that they’d been served (others arrived after us and got their food before us) the manager should NEVER argue, like come on. Honestly left the worst taste in my mouth, so much so I had to leave a bad review. Will never be coming back I’m so disappointed. The manager could have handled everything so much better but was honestly just plain rude. He took $20 off after all of that so we paid $50 instead of $70 for rocket on dry bread and some orange juice. Don’t need a response or another...
Read moreIt feels like they're still finding their way at this place. All very young staff, all with a great attitude. They don't come to the table to take your order though - there's a sign (with a smile attached) above the counter that reads, "order & pay here". When I ordered my eggs I was kindly asked if I wanted the hollandaise on the side or on the eggs. When my eggs came the girl asked me if I would like to put the next table together with mine to have more room if I needed, as they did with the people at the table opposite also. Their permit has been approved to expand to include next door, apparently, then they say they'll have a full kitchen - so the menu is a bit limited at the moment. But my eggs were great. Very good hollandaise, which the chef told me is made fresh daily. The sourdough also was very good quality. Let's hope not too many of the locals are like the guy opposite me who ordered a "skinny, strong, extra hot latte".......It would be great if decent barristas like the one at this Cafe also had a licence to EDUCATE, and would tell people like that, "NO, we're not going to completely ruin your coffee sir. Let me tell you, for starters all about why making a coffee scolding hot absolutely destroys it...." Ok that's TWO people now that have ordered extra hot - this time a flat white. God Almighty please don't let these coffee ignoramuses(customers) DESTROY the coffee here!!! (Some cafes, I find -usually outer-suburban - start out with the best intentions, but end up dumbing things down for the locals who have no idea). Good vibe at this Cafe, lots of dog walkers drop in for a coffee. It's a nice relaxed little spot in the quiet back streets of Heidelberg Heights, with good food and...
Read moreDissapointed at the moment. Our first visit was great. Good coffee and friendly staff. Service was great and food was good. On our second visit it was a complete 180. Came in and we had to wait 10 min until I had enough and went inside. They apologised and said they would be right out and I told them to bring us the menu also(just finished a ride and was famished!), I put in my coffee order at that moment. Another 15 min pass and no menu came out, got completely ignored again. Five! People who came after us were given the menus and their coffee before us.
Really disspointed by their service but the staff was different from my first time. Their clearly was a massive skill gap between the two sets of staff. I am going to give it 1 more chance. If they mess up their service again that badly, I prefer to drive another 5 min to another cafe. It is the freaking weekend I do not want to stressed or annoyed over something that is standard across every other cafe. I will update on...
