Unpleasant dine in experience. The lady there was rude and unprofessional.
We had just sat down. And she looks unhappy to serve the customer and came over with water bottle and wine/water glasses put them on the table and make enormous noise. The water in the bottle came out a bit and make the table messy. So do glasses. Kids and elders were shocked in our table. Other table even looked at our table thinking what was happening.
She has no apologies and she is unhappy for the whole night. Very terrible experience.
The food was good, but the plates she gave us were oily and having some rice leftovers. I normally will be ok with this, but not with that lady’s attitude. This is not hospitality!
There are a lot of choices in the area. We don’t need to experience this in our lovely night. If you ask me personally, never go back again and not recommend at all.
Thanks the lady who...
Read moreMy husband and I took my nephew, Caelin and his wife, Ebony to Suwan Thai Restaurant in Lower Plenty for his birthday. It is a charming restaurant both on the exterior and interior. The restaurant has tasteful decor and is ambient. The lovely wait staff were very friendy, courteous and efficient.
We had Por pia, Satay chicken and Curry puffs for entree. Lou had Tom Yum soup. For mains, we had Yum Nur, Pad Thai with prawns, Green curry, Pla lard khing, Koa kati and coconut rice. I had Gouy bud chee for dessert. Every dish was so delicious. All of us enjoyed ourselves very much.
We sang the birthday song to Caelin while he cut his birthday cake. Later, Cookie the waitress handed Caelin a little birthday gift from management. It was a beautiful Thai keyring. This was very thoughtful and kind.
I very highly recommend Suwan Thai Restaurant, Lower Plenty.

Read moreFood was not enjoyable because all dishes were excessively overly sweetened. The satay chicken sauce was devoid of any peanuts in the peanut sauce and sweetened. The massaman curry (sweet) had thin strips of beef instead of chunks, included pineapple(?), peanuts and it wasn't actually a massaman as it was made from a red curry base which is just wrong. They gave us wine that tasted of vinegar - when we asked how old it was the waiter went to check (bless) and came back to tell us it was 1-3 days old. Credit to them they cracked a fresh bottle for us. The chicken satay was cooked well and the curry puffs were good. So in my opinion it's a long way from Thai food. They need to get an authentic satay sauce and cut back on...
