Further comment: The Alderman bullied me again into deleting this post as they are aware they cannot delete this public shaming, My own son won't talk to me and he too has been cancelled because of this public shaming, fortunately for me the truth of this matter is now being spoken in public, you can't hide from God
Note: Hi Eugene, Iāve emailed you and willing to meet you, and under the rule of law and honesty, if Iāve done wrong then we should take this matter to the police, however if I havenāt then I shouldnāt be publicly shamed in this way.. Which I intend to seek legal representation against your establishment as this is cyber bullying
ā One Star (but I wish I could give a 10,000 minus) I visited The Alderman on Lygon Street in Brunswick East last night after playing a composition at Tempo Rubato, hoping to sit quietly and reflect while enjoying a glass of wine and whiskey. My experience, unfortunately, was soured by the interaction I had with one of the staff members.
I began a friendly conversation about philosophy and resonanceāsomething Iām deeply passionate aboutābut was met with condescension and a tone that reflected a deeper issue: toxic masculinity. I respectfully called it out, and the situation escalated unnecessarily.
Despite maintaining calm, polite etiquette the entire time, I was suddenly told the staff member was āon the phone with the ownerā and made to feel unwelcome. I wasnāt loud, disrespectful, or disruptiveāI was simply looking for a place to sit, listen to music, and connect with the moment.
While Iāve left a one-star review, the truth is I would give this place a 10,000 minus if I could. Thatās how deeply disrespected and disappointed I felt in an environment that should welcome expression, intellect, and peace.
Itās disheartening to see a space that could be a beautiful cultural hub instead gatekeep its environment in such a narrow, dismissive way. A bar should be a place where all kinds of thinkers and feelers are welcome. Unfortunately, last night proved that this is not yet the case here.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI asked to sit at the bar and was told it was an inconvenience for the weekend service even though the bar was quiet throughout my whole experience here. I went outside to have some nicotine (as many do these days). I came back and my drink was gone, the āmanagerā (Lauren) told me she had thrown it out because she assumed I had left and then walked away without any resolutions or further discussion. I had to wave down employees whilst they ate chips at the opposite end of the bar inattentively. This is the most hostile hospitality experience (purely from the āmanagerā) and will be happy to not return to this bar. Special shoutout to Eugene (I hope I spelt that right) who was the only saving grace of my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHark! The Alderman's Ale Courtyard, a beacon of gustatory delight in this bleak worldly realm! The 'Alderman's Nectar' ā a potion fit for nobles, hath graced mine palate. The courtyard, a spectacle of enchantment and merriment, with darts adorning the walls like heralds of revelry. The barkeeps, as aldermen of libations, wield their vessels with the grace of courtly minstrels, conjuring concoctions fit for qweeens and commoners alike. Beware the discerning black cat, surveying thy libation choices with a regal air. This be not merely a bar and courtyard; 'tis the Alderman's Ale Courtyard, where libations flow freely, and the laughter of jesters fills the air like...
