I hadn't seen Rod in a bit, and since Turbo and I were in Boronia buying the zenith of all tools, we figured we should catch up for a cheeky burg. He suggested The chocolate dragonfly Cafe. I do love an excuse to go to The Basin triangle. There's a lot of nostalgia there for me. Finally a warm and sunny enough day to sit outside for lunch and the council were kind enough to install some lovely play equipment for Turbo to injure herself on right next to the table! Sure, most people use it as a bike stand, but clearly, it was intended to spin upside down on until you fall and choof your elbow? 🤣 I had a Danny Burger, and it was magnificent. Just look at it! What a stonking chonka. Probably a bit on the pricey side, but still well deserving of 5 stars. I really should come over to The Basin more often. Spend some money here and make up for being an absolute menace to the local society when I was...

Not the first review to mention the vanilla slice, but it was truly incredible. I am not averse to a good old 'snot block' vanilla slice and typically don't like too many deviations from the classic form, but this one is an absolute charmer. Simple and spectacular all at once.

I also had the salmon bagel, which was generously filled, fresh and delicious. Would like to see slightly more vegetarian options for this menu to be ideal (a falafel option of the kofta kebab would be great, or a egg/cheese/hashbrown brekkie roll) but what they do have is done very well - and with lovely personable service...

Yesterday we were lucky enough to break down (well not so lucky but...) in front of the Chocolate Dragonfly. If you had to break down it was the place to do it. The staff at the Dragonfly made a beautiful coffee for us, provided a water bottle and several refills to enable us to repair the radiator in the car. The lady even came out to check on us regularly. It turned a potentially nightmare situation into a lovely situation meeting some of the locals who also helped and a brilliant cafe team!!! Thanks for your wonderful efforts. We will be back for coffee...

If you go to the Dandenong mountains for a ride or a hike or whatever, make sure you arto here fore a great Gluten Free feed! Very friendly experience, pleasant talk to the owner, relaxed atmosphere. The selection of GF choices is very vaste, i opted for a burger. They said they could do it with toast bread, showing that they care and are happy to make YOU happy. I will definitely stop there every time I head down too the Dandenongs mountains. For more GF feeds follow me on @theceliacitalianchef.

Great service even though it was Saturday morning with a good number of people. The coffee was lovely, a mug of flat white, rich cream made to perfection! And well needed after a hike, which also built up an appetite. The meal was the poached eggs with bacon, the eggs, muffin, sauce all were amazing, just a treat to your pallet. The omlet was also awesome. Go ahead, enjoy:)
