Just a solid NO. If you enjoy the romantic ambiance of your dinner while slouched on a sofa like you're having a microwave meal in front of Netflix at 2am, then sure, this might work for you.

But here's what really gets me - picture that TV dinner experience, except now you're in really close proximity to strangers while they chat, chew and drink. (really close) The "tables" are crammed so close together that you'll know what your neighbour had for lunch yesterday and probably catch their cold by dessert. It's like they took a cafeteria and shoved some armchairs in there and called it intimate dining. What really irritates me is trying to have a proper conversation with your partner while hearing three different discussions about mortgage rates and someone's weekend plans. And don't get me started on trying to eat your meal gracefully on those tiny magazine tables - it's like doing dinner gymnastics to get the food to your mouth. Then there's the pricing situation that honestly just feels out of place. Sure, the portions look reasonable on the plate, but when you calculate what you're actually paying per bite, it's genuinely not a lot of bang for buck. They charge premium restaurant prices for what is significantly less food than you'd get anywhere else with proper tables and chairs. The drink prices aren't much better - It's disappointing because the concept could work, but the execution and the associated pricing just leaves you feeling uninspired and hungry with a bigger than normal hole in...

This was my first visit to The Peacock Den. The first few words that come to mind are vintage, velvet and leather. The den has a very cosy and intimate setting seating approximately 50-60 max guests (my guess)

As a party of three we were seated on one of their leather couches. I felt this was not practical for a party of three. The narrow coffee like table bench was so close (which it had to be to eat) that to get yourself in a position to turn and talk to your friends was not comfortable at all.

I had the pink peacock cocktail which was nice but the bits of raspberry were constantly getting stuck in the tiny paper straw provided. I ended up giving up on the straw and drinking from the glass ending up with chunks of mint in my mouth trying to drink it.

For eats we shared the fried chicken, pork belly bao buns, truffle Mac and cheese and a bowl of fries.

Enjoyed the Bao buns but wish the pork had of had the crackling on it! Yum!

I can't say I was a fan of the truffle Mac but only because I think it's me that isn't a fan of truffle.

The chicken and the bbq sauce was delicious 👏 Fries were well.... fries are fries right?

For desert we had the hot jam donuts and the cheesecake. Donuts were really good, my only complaint ....not enough jam!

The cheesecake was also delicious, so smooth and tasty. I don't usually like baked cheesecake but this one was so good.

I'd go back only if I was guaranteed an actual chair and table and not a couch. There's many other dishes on their menu I'd...

Really disappointing experience, we booked for 4 people however on our way our friend called and had just tested positive for covid, so obviously did not come. When we arrived we ordered cocktails and 2 bottles of champagne and then we were advised that as we had booked for 4 people we had to pay for the 4th person $55!!!! We had already spent close to $200 on drinks before this was advised, clearly we had already covered that cost. Then the waiter forgot to put our drinks into the bar then can back ages later and asked if we wanted drinks? The food was average at best, and the smallest of serves, the lounge chairs were comfortable but the tables were terrible no space at all to eat, they were more like thin little coffee or side tables, way to squishy to enjoy a meal and a drink, especially when your sharing, no space to keep your bottle of wine at your table so you have to get someone to bring it back each time you want a refill, one of the bottles was not cold enough so had to put ice in it. Who puts ice in Champagne? Over all we spent $595, I would not go back again, like i said at the beginning it was a really disappointing experience, we always like to support local but this is one venue we will never go back again, and could not recommend to...

Today we discovered a real gem of a restaurant definitely worthy of 5 stars and is highly recommended. It’s a cozy tapas wine bar packed with unique style and personality. Well worth a drive to The Basin, a rural and residential suburb 31 km east of Melbourne at the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges. From the moment you walk in you realise the seating is a luxurious lounge chair setup that sets the mood for an enjoyable relaxed dining experience with a difference. The staff are engaging, professional and helpful. We genuinely enjoyed talking to them throughout. Once the food and wine start arriving that’s when you realise you are in for a real treat! Every delicious dish is presented beautifully and packed with mouth-watering flavours. I enjoyed every single bite. If you like the idea of sharing plates, good wine, and decor with an artistic and luxurious flare, it's time to book ‘The Peacock Den’ to experience it yourself - I highly recommend it!

Great spot, very intimate vibe inside. Tapas style food. The highlight for me was the sliders. They were the best sliders I’ve ever had. Melt in your mouth. The chef even came out and asked if we wanted more sliders to which I shamelessly said YES. 😂 I left very stuffed. The wine list was good. We got one glass that had pieces of cork in it (small pieces). On pointing this out, the waitress took it away but the second glass still had a bit of cork in it. Over all great experience. Will never forget those sliders.
