Tiffin Box — Restaurant in Melbourne

I ordered the butter chicken burger meal, and was told I could upgrade the drink for 50 cents, which I did, and even specified I’ll be getting a small coconut drink. Mid way through eating I was approached and told the coconut water was not included and that I would have to pay for it, which was confusing🫤 because one fridge clearly states drinks included for regular box meals, and the other was for the upgraded..

Anyway, after my meal I went up to pay and when I asked how much extra, I was told $3!!! So not only did my meal include a drink, I paid extra to have it upgraded, and now I was being asked for an extra $3! What on earth?! The lady said she thought I said small coke (even though the coke was in the same ‘upgrade’ fridge as the coconut water.

I feel that ruined what could have been a great experience otherwise. The burger was nice, and the chips were perfect, but the service left a sour taste. 😐

Heard of Tiffin Box and it’s famous Kathi Roll through my work colleagues and decided to try it out. Absolutely sensational stuff! Had the chicken and the paneer kathi rolls, and they both lived up to the hype! The best part was the wrap that was made fresh and the sauce inside had the right balance of sweet, sour and spice, just like the traditional kathi rolls back home. The stuffing was very generous and you could taste the flavours in the chicken and the paneer. One suggestion though…get them to cut the rolls into 2 pieces as they are huge and you don’t want to waste any of them, if you’d like to save a piece for later. Also helps you eat them better without dropping any of that delicious filling! Had an opportunity for a chin wag with the owners, who shared their migration story with me. Such simple, down to earth people and very obliging too. Drop in and check out the variety of delicious foods from back home…you will truly delight in...

An absolute hidden gem in Clayton! Tiffin Box is hands-down one of the best spots for authentic Indian street food in Melbourne. The Vada Pav took me straight back to Mumbai – crispy, spicy, and packed with flavour. And don’t even get me started on the Karak Chai — perfectly brewed and just the right strength. 🫖🔥

The owner is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the whole place has such a good vibe — casual, cosy, and great for catching a game or just chilling with friends. Portions are generous, prices are very reasonable ($1–$20!), and everything we tried was halal.
