Whittlesea Bakehouse meat pies are great, seriously rich meat gravies - the Whittlesea pie is a corker. Their vegetarian and vegan options are really good - my better half reckons they aren't just a boring accommodation. They have take home family sized options too. This place is worth going out of your way for, if, like me, you don't live closeby. Great vanilla slices too and their foccacia rolls are great for garlic bread rolls for the freezer. They care about making good food - so yeah, sensational!

Returned 04.2025: Whittlesea Pie and a party pie - always sensational. Often, we'll take our tucker to Yan Yean and feast with a view - truly fine. Truth is, we've been here numerous times now,...

Took my elderly parents on an outing to the Whittlesea Monday market today, but in truth we travelled all the way to Whittlesea because my 89yo dad wanted to eat a lovely pie somewhere. I researched online and read about the award-winning pies from the Whittlesea Bakehouse. We chose to eat in, and my dad was in seventh heaven! Super friendly service, delicious pies and a huge selection of fresh cakes. Even the coffee was great. We also bought take away fruit mince pies, sausage rolls and vanilla slices - my dad will be talking about this bakery for weeks to come...

I went for a drive out to Whittlesea today and to give it a try, I tried the award winning sausage roll and unfortunately and honestly I found it a little disappointing. I felt it wasn’t the best of taste, meat was too thick and wasn’t very warm. I think they need to be hotter and probably serve fresh. I also had the steak and cheese pie and that was very good and taste great. You must of did the sausage rolls different at the bakery contest and the judges must have different taste buds to me. I am sorry I found the Sausage...

We drive for over an hour to reach this place and I felt sorry for our endeavour because it didn’t met our expectations. We ordered the award winning sausage rolls but there’s no positive taste it’s like you’re chewing with no satisfaction. We bought as well the mushroom pie and mud cake. Nothing stands out on the pie and the cake was dry and the cake found in Coles or woolies are more tastier. I felt sorry for the people like me sacrificing to reach the place because it’s a hype.

Very lovely little country backhouse. Quite busy when I went but was still served promptly. Staff were very helpful. Sausage Roll is very delicious. The pastry is soft and flaky and buttery and the filling itself is bountiful and delicious. Didn’t try any of the sweets but they all looked lovely and delicious. There was a huge production line in the back creating baked goods constantly so I have no doubt everything served is 100% homemade and fresh!

1. Sausage Roll = $6 2. Steak, Onion, Tomato & Cheese = $7.90 I got sauce but never used it which is rare for a sausage roll. It was banging. The pie was amazing, you could taste each ingredient eg nice stand-up tomato taste, cheesy but not too cheesy. Perfect balance of flavours. They were so good that I got 4 pies takeaway and they were equally as good. Come and support this amazing business. 9.5/10
