Woodlands Restaurant — Restaurant in Melbourne

We found this restaurant in the entertainment book and thought we would try it as it is not too far from our home. The restaurant is located inside Mantra, and there are no signs at the front which made it challenging to find the place. The restaurant did seem fair busy and I am not surprised as there are not too many other options around the area, so if you are staying the the hotel it is your most convenient option.

The menu contained a lot of options, I had the cone bay barramundi which as over salty for me. My husband tried some of mine and he thought it was delicious and flavoursome. I do not like my food overly salted. The potatoes and spinach that came with the fish were appetising. My husband had the roasted chicken breast which he loved.

The service was average, the staff employed didn't seem to want to be working and did not care about providing an excellent customer service. I think if the service was better it would entice more people to come again.

I wouldn't go out of my way to go to this restaurant however if you are staying at the hotel or live local it is worth visiting. Also if you do have the entertainment book there is an excellent deal (which if it is in the new book I will use the...

Not quite what I expected for a $49 meal. Room service wasn't running, so we had to go and pick up our meals ourselves. The meal was served in a cardboard box with wooden cutlery; we didn't get a plate or proper cutlery to eat with. The wooden fork broke instantly, and the wooden knife was never going to cut the potato, let alone the steak. I resorted to using a saucer from the hotel room and eating with my hands. The serviette that came with the knife and fork was so pathetically thin and small that I needed a bath afterwards. The steak itself was good and was cooked as I requested, but there was no salt or pepper provided.

I understand that services can sometimes encounter difficulties that disrupt their normal service, but I found it a little much to be charged $49 for a meal that was served...

I am so grateful to my server, Mike, for making my birthday tonight so special. After a cancelled flight today, I checked into the Mantra Hotel and was kindly given a complimentary birthday drink by the staff to start, followed by a lovely meal. The food was cooked well and the portions generous but it was the service that really stood out for me.

The service by Mike was very personable and I felt looked after throughout, especially at the end of the meal when Mike surprised me with a complimentary birthday dessert and asked the whole restaurant to sing happy birthday to me too! This was truly an unforgettable birthday despite the circumstances and I want to thank Mike for going out of his way to make it memorable.
