I’m not often someone to leave negative reviews however wanted to pass on some feedback after our weekend spent at Morwell Hotel. All was going really well until last night when our large group of approx 30 people (who had also booked the majority of the accommodation) sat down to have dinner. We were approx an hour or so into our dinner booking when one person from our group was understandably asked to leave due to bringing in his own drinks. I understand this policy completely. I was however, and still am extremely disappointed that every other person within our group was punished and “cut off” an hour and half (if that) into our dinner booking. The majority of us had only had one or two drinks, and if it was due to RSA then our group were completely discriminated against. In the sports bar the previous evening other patrons not from our group should have been cut off who were screaming, slurring, falling all over the place and yet still being served. One member from our group was also served his one drink which had a broken bottle top which cut his lip and no apology or compensation was offered. Our entire group were cut off within one hour of arriving for our dinner booking meaning most of us couldn’t even have a drink with our dinner. This was also after our group had spent (I could only assume based on my own costs for food and accommodation) a total of at least $8,000 at the establishment within two days. I feel that the people in management were completely unfair and unprofessional, and that further consideration should have been given being that 99% of our group respected rules and guidelines. I’m sure that management aren’t likely to care enough to rethink their choices and how this affected the entire experience for our group, but perhaps this feedback could be used to improve your personal and communication skills and improve level of respect you give to paying customers who have done nothing wrong. Given that Morwell is a small community I would think you would rely on large groups travelling to help support your establishments, and I for one know I will never visit again based on the discrimination and unfair treatment experienced...
Read moreWe went there for lunch midweek. We had been twice before & although a bit pricey for bistro meals, we were happy enough with the quality & portions. After wandering from table to table to locate a menu, rather than queuing up at the counter for one, it was to the end of the queue I went. Seriously.... queuing for a MENU? I ordered the Lamb Shanks which were described as being slow braised in a rich tomato gravy served on creamy mashed potato. From our highset table I was able to watch the Chef(?) remove the cover of the just nuked shanks & plate them up. Hmmm, slow braised & then nuked! What arrived on my plate was 2 lukewarm shanks amongst a very thin sauce which did not resemble a rich gravy in anyone's language. The mash was more like mush & nothing creamy about it! I sent the meal back, as I'm not about to eat lukewarm food, especially at $28.50. When it came back, Chef (?) got his revenge.... they were so hot I had to wait awhile before I could eat them. I ordered the Herb Encrusted Tuna Steaks for Hubby. What arrived were 2 piddly Tuna cakes. OK, Tuna Steaks & Tuna Cakes sound similar, so the woman who took my order could be forgiven for getting it wrong, however I did say Herb Encrusted Tuna Steaks, not just Tuna Steaks! NOTE TO CASHIER...... if you repeat this similar sounding order before you process the order, you'll have a better chance of getting it right! Granted, the server offered to replace the meal, but Hubby didn't want to make a fuss or hold up my meal. (This was before I discovered that my lamb shanks were lukewarm!) As it was, he was half way through his meal by the time my lamb shanks were returned to me. All in all, it was a total botch up & we will not be back. Now I see that Lamb shanks are the June special at $19.90. Good luck to the brave patrons that...
Read moreAttending a birthday party of a friend at this place I found it very disappointing. The staff was friendly and the service was quick but one waitress dropped the fish and some of the food off my friend's plate onto the bare table then just proceeded to put the food back on the plate. My friend helped her to put the piece of fish back on to the plate and the waitress commented " oh you better do that..." I then asked the waitress if my friend will receive another piece of fish and the waitress replied "nice try but No." I was disgusted with the unhygienic handling of my friend's food. My question is what happens in the kitchen if this is done in front of customers? Personally my vegetarian meal was disgusting but credit to another young waitress who asked if we were satisfied with our meals. I told her the Haloumi cheese and Asparagus was overcooked and the salad had just one type of greens instead of a variety of vegetables which would have been better and to ask the cook to put Spinach in the salad to compliment the Haloumi cheese. i won't have a meal there again too worried about the food handling service. This place is an economic family bistro/pub type and has entertainment, motel and gambling facilities for...
