Cafe Rene — Restaurant in New South Wales

Perhaps too late in the day...about 2.10pm after a long meeting I called in for a main meal - my lunch. Ordered a chicken schnitzel, chips and salad and a black coffee. Food presented very quickly. I asked the lovely young staffer if the chicken was precooked as it had a strange texture, her manager (perhaps the owner) said she could cook another. I didn't see the logic in cooking another when told it would be from the same batch! (Guessing not prepared in house) I didn't eat it...just the chips and salad for me! I could hear the manager asking, "is she eating it, is she eating it" however not speaking to me directly. Coffee hot but no 'crema' layer expected with a long black coffee. No offer to cook / prepare an alternative, no offer of a cabinet product, no offer of a discount, no apology. The young staffer was polite and I was aware the situation was out of...

I go here for lunch between 1 and 4 times a week and have done for years. The food is good, the prices are excellent, the service is A+ and the staff are absolutely wonderful people who are always happy to serve no matter how busy it is, and let me tell you, this place gets busy. I work in a nearby business and constantly have my own customers talk about how good this Cafe is and was just thinking about how customers are generally quick to complain online, but rarely leave positive feedback which I too am guilty of sometimes, so I just had a moment where I thought I would do just that. Lovely Cafe, nice food, great value for money, excellent service, and absolute top tier staff....

In all honesty.. this cafe can be great! But it can also be not so good. More often then not I my breakfast comes out with cold toast, or cold bacon... or something on the plate is cold.
