My family of 5 visited this seemingly very popular and fantastically located East Ballina cafe recently. The menu was great. Staff were friendly and helpful. Decor was cool and on point. But after spending $94 on four mains with no drinks, we were a little confused as to whether there had been a mistake tallying up the bill. Returning to the menu, we found that the two ‘kids’ menu items we had ordered - the fried chicken and the squid - were both $19 items that consisted of a handful of chips, some salad premix and cherry tomato halves, and in the case of the chicken plate a single small piece of meat. The squid wasn’t much better, with just 4 or 5 small pieces of seafood. The kids demolished the food in minutes and quickly asked if they could order more. After spending almost $100 on a meal, disappointed kids and empty tummies felt like a bit of a let-down. Being a Sydney-sider, I’m used to steep prices but $20 for a single piece of fried chicken seemed like a new low. I’d strongly suggest that the management of TBG review the serving sizes and maybe their prices to ensure that a visit to this otherwise great venue doesn’t leave their patrons feeling like they’ve been taken...
Read moreNot happy with my smoothie. I ordered the”Super” smoothie , and it was like bubbly water and tasted very different to the same smoothie I’ve ordered here many times previously. It was not thick and when I looked closely, there was no chai seeds and I suspect it was made with milk rather than almond milk. I couldn’t finish it and felt so sick as I am diary intolerant. I overheard a staff member tell a customer that as it was just after Australia Day long weekend, they were out of many ingredients, including frozen bananas which is the key ingredient in this smoothie and this is why it was watery. I was also charged $11 which is the cost of the Super with chocolate, and I clearly said I didn’t want the choc. They slyly left out key ingredients, overcharged me and it looked nothing like the smoothie in the photo or like the dozen Super smoothies I’ve ordered from BG previously. This place has gone down hill and the staff are too busy socialising to serve. Furthermore, our table also overheard the dark English barista bad mouthing a customer. Appalling!! Belle General: You...
