I attended this shop today and was highly concerned by their food handling practises. My order was placed and the server reached for a box and with her bare hands picked up and placed my order in the container. I looked across to the bench behind my server to a employee making sandwiches with her bare hands placing ham,tomato and other ingredients on the sandwich bases. Cross contamination was obvious. No gloves No tongs No utensils just bare hands I collected and payed for my purchase and whilst doing so quietly asked the server if this was her usual practise to handle food this way and she seemed insulted. I work as a community nurse and have a certificate in food handling. It is certainly not what I believe to be hygiene standards in NSW. We purchased a frozen Moroccan Lamb curry for $22 recently and on preparing it, found it to be inedible due to the extraordinary amount of salt which had been added. I returned the packet with the name and date on it and explained that we could not eat it and why. The owner replied with a laugh that she “must have been in love that day” and made no offer of a replacement meal or refund. We were certainly entitled to one as the product we bought was not suitable for the purpose we bought it for. ie eating! This was a very poor way to treat any customer let alone a regular. I tried scraping it off but couldn’t, there was still paper everywhere. When I pointed it out, they told me it wasn’t possible to toast it without the paper??! I asked if I could get another one, and the response was, ‘do you want to pay for another one?’ I ended up leaving with what was basically a pork paper roll.
