I booked the 3 night package at Bannisters Pavilion as a birthday present for my husband. It seemed to be good value for money as breakfast and dinner was included in the price: one dinner (Pizza and a cocktail) at the Pool Bar at Bannisters by the Sea, one dinner (with a restricted menu) at Rick Stein's Restaurant, and one dinner at the Rooftop Bar in the Pavilion.|On arrival, the staff were all very friendly and the check-in was easy. Let me say that I do resent any hotel asking for your credit card as a condition of staying there and then charging you a fee to use a credit card. The room was very comfortable with everything you need. It looked out over the car park, but this turned out not to be a problem as it was quiet. Bathroom modern and clean. If you are expecting to have sea views at the Pavilion, you will be disappointed. The beach is about 100 metres away and the Pavilion does not look out towards it. They offered a glass of bubbles on arrival which was appreciated. Our first night dinner was the Pizza and cocktail. Pizza tasty and although it was advertised as coming with salad, no salad appeared. As we are not too fussed about salad we didn't mention it, but some people might like salad and would have been disappointed. The breakfasts were all very good and varied with a small buffet for cereals, fruit etc and a cooked breakfast to order. The second dinner was at Rick Stein's restaurant at Bannisters at the Sea. This was the big disappointment. We had been looking forward to the experience as so many people had told us it was "great". The food was "ordinary" and to be honest our local golf club does it better. It also lacked a bit of ambience and the service was slow. The last dinner was at the Rooftop Bar and Grill in the Pavilion. This was the best food of the visit. Given the steep cost of the drinks, I have yet to work out whether the 3 night package was worth it. It was a pleasant visit, but I don't think we will be back. You are paying for a brand, which is a bit different than the...

The King size bed is very comfortable and the bathroom is a good size with bench space on both sides of the basin for toiletries and the hot water is great and the water pressure in the shower is excellent. Good air con and bar fridge with water and milk and the usual tea and coffee facilities. Breakfast at the rooftop bar and grill is very well done with a selection of continental components that you can serve yourself , then an a la carte selection is offered. We ate at the rooftop that night and yes it is a bit pricey but we spent 2 nights at the lovely Cupitts Estate prior to Bannisters and the prices were in a similar range.|When we checked in we could hear a dog barking but didn't think much of it until later in the day when there was more barking. We learned on the last day that there are 2 dog rooms, room 101 and room 120 on the ground floor. Unfortunately we were allocated room 109 which was across the corridor from room 120. We were not informed we would be near a dog room nor given an opportunity to select another room. The barking dog across the corridor was clearly audible from the reception area and from inside our room, there was more barking in the afternoon and we were woken on the final morning at 7 am with more barking. Even the relaxing breakfast at the rooftop bar was subject to a barking dog on both mornings. I mentioned the barking a couple of times to staff but the reaction was just a polite smile. From what we could see it seemed to be condoned by staff/management. |On check out we were offered a nights accommodation credit as we had been kept awake all night by the barking. I pointed out that it was not us, we were woken up early and it must have been another guest that was affected during the night. I thanked them but we would not be taking advantage of the offer as we won't be returning. Not what we expected for a luxury...
Read moreWe stayed one night at Bannister's pavillion Mollymook and decided to eat at their restaurant, The Rooftop Bar and Grill. We were disappointed by both the accommodation and the restaurant. We had heard great things about both, hence why we decided to stay there. ||Location is great, just a few minutes walk from the beach, and the hotel room was quite nice and comfortable with a nice bathroom. However immediately upon arrival we noticed all the carpets in the hallway to our room were stained/bleached. It all needed replacing and it was the same in our room. We also heard lots of loud banging noises and scraping noises in the evening around 8:30 as though someone was reorganising the room above us. This lasted over an hour and we reported it to staff with no resolution. ||The restaurant was more disappointing. We found the staff to be relatively friendly, however a bit slack in their service. Not filling our water and leaving our dirty dishes sit in front of us for some time. The food itself was mediocre at best. We had the scallops, kingfish sashimi and octopus for entree. The flavours were all off and the octopus was rubbery. Very disappointing as the south coast is known for great seafood. We ordered steak which was very expensive and prawn linguine for mains. The steak was overcooked and it was tough and chewy. The linguine was probably the nicest dish. ||Overall we were very disappointed, especially having dined at lots of other restaurants with exceptional food for the same/similar price range. It just felt like such a waste of money and extremely overrated. ||I wouldn't stay here or eat here again unless major...
