We had a terrible experience with this cafe and incredibly rude and aggressive staff. In particular a woman in her late 40s with dark brown hair who should rethink her career choices as hospitality is clearly the wrong choice for her
My sister ordered a $32 steak, asked for no sauce and chips only due to allergies
The steak came out with a creamy mushroom sauce on top which she can’t eat.
When advised that we asked for no sauce she was challenged; the server took the steak back and “new one” came out suspiciously quick (in under five minutes) and looking very wet and cooked well done (when asked medium rare)
There is no way a new steak; especially a well done one; could be cooked that quick. And it tasted watery; I’m sure they just washed the steak, put it back on the grill and brought it back out
As she is highly allergic to dairy; we asked the server if it had just been washed. She denied this only to come to our table a few minutes later and aggressively argued that we didn’t make it clear enough that there were allergies
She was so aggressive and rude; I had to step in and ask her not to speak to her that way.
The whole time we were calm and patient; and this woman was next level rude! People like this shouldn’t work in hospitality.
And it’s unbelievable that you would wash a steak and re-serve it to customers; instead of just remaking the meal;
It’s a shame as the view over the gardens of this place is beautiful and we were also there to celebrate a birthday and had presents on the table which we were so upset after this encounter we had to leave
Would highly recommend avoiding this place and bringing a packed lunch and enjoy the...
Read moreHonestly, some of the most vexing staff and attitude I've ever experienced at any café. I'm sure not everyone is there, but it's disheartening because I love the local scenery and frequent the place. It's a lovely place to have a drink and relax after a nice walk. The Waterfall Café is the only place I've ever had this issue with. I hope it's just a few bad coincidences.
It was an absolute hassle just trying to order a cheeseburger. I don't mind getting charged extra since it's on the kid's menu, and they offer no alternative or adult-sized variant, but getting to that point was aggravating. I had my order rejected, tried to order chips instead, and then had my initial order reinstated with a price increase. It might be good to have a cheeseburger for adults on the menu in the future.
The burger was underwhelming and dull in flavour. Next time, I'll try a different burger and update my review if it was just a bad one-off burger.
The chips are perfect. I highly recommend them; some of the best I've had in a while from a café!
I hate leaving negative reviews, but my overall experience here was appalling. I hope to update this in the future with a more...
Read moreMy entire experience at this cafe was nothing short of underwhelming, its only redeeming factor was the views from outside the cafe.
The staff here were the main problem as they were particularly harsh and didn’t seem interested in their job or catering to their customers at all. These women (who seemed to be in their late 40s) were purposely ignoring me so that they didn’t have to disrupt their own private conversations. Overall their demeanour was rude and definitely not hospitable in the slightest.
The food wasn’t good either. I bought a "lava cake," but it was nothing like any other lava cake I've had before. It was cold- as no one cared to heat it for us, so there was no melted or even remotely gooey chocolate in the centre. It was just a stale chocolate cake with cold buttercream icing. Definitely not worth what we paid for it.
They also keep their prices for minority of the pastries hidden, however I suspect this is a marketing tactic. They could easily make the experience for their customer better by labeling all the pastries and providing their prices...
