East Maitland Bowling Club — Restaurant in Newcastle-Maitland

I met with a friend and her children who were playing in the indoor play area (great idea, grateful for that space). Unfortunately, the change table in the bathroom looked filthy, with brownish fingermarks all over it, as though it had never been sanitised. The table has some faeces on it. The feeding chair was directly next to the dirty change table and had no table to place bottles etc. The main reason why I'm writing this review though is because of the awful food and customer service from the Cafe. I asked the male staff member taking my order if the burger contained onion, as it makes me sick. He said no. When I received my burger, there was cooked onion on the patty. I showed the staff member and asked him if he remembered telling me the burger did not contain onion. He replied by saying that it shouldn't. I then told him I am allergic. He did not offer any resolution, so I had to scrape the onion off and take medication to be able to eat the tastless thing. I told him he should probably let the kitchen know. He didn't seem very proactive... Luckily I had found the onion before taking a bite. I had also ordered a chocolate chip biscuit. They only sold them in pairs (now I think they may have just been trying to get rid of them!). Both biscuits were cold and soggy. I would only order plain chips here if you are absolutely desperate. I'm unsure what the restaurant is like, but if you are bringing children for a play, bring lots of hand sanitiser, possibly milton wipes for the putrid change table, and EAT...

Expensive; music so loud we couldn't hear ourselves talk - had to even repeat ourselves to the waitress several times, and music could not be turned down as the owners wanted a 'party' atmosphere - was as loud as a nightclub. all food seasoned the same, so if you didn't like flavour you didn't like any of it. basically American style BBQ flavours; kids didn't even eat the chips, so not kid friendly, as you order everything thru qr code nothing could be altered. Despite claims off COVID restrictions, we were seated next to toilets with other guests seated at tables right next to us SO NO SOCIAL DISTANCING AT ALL, whilst a heap of tables surrounding us empty. We advised our reactions, manager did not appear or even look at us as we were passing him on our way out after sending over $200 for two adults and three kids... We won't be back and I doubt this restaurant will last very long at all. TWO...

Club is great. However since billabong left the food has dropped down. The Chinese & bar & grill was booked out but only bar & grill offered takeaway mesning had to order ugly take away containers to sit in main bar. Food was horrible/greasy & very overpriced for small portion given.

Have always been confused in 17 yrs of visiting east's why there is no main bistro like other bowling clubs where guests can sit wherever in the club. As its not a good look sitting there with cardboard boxes of food. I get there is 2 restaurants. But maybe knocking a wall out of the Chinese restaurant to open it as a full bistro to serve the entire clubs tables Like other clubs. As pretty off putting to see empty tables in bar that you can't order food at.

I thought change would come after billabong left regarding it. But seems nothing has changed.
