We recently headed up to Invergorden for an off-grid getaway and made a memorable pit stop at Full Throttle. Doubling up as a shop and cafe specialising in all things BBQ, Full Throttle BBQ is an absolute MUST for any meat lovers heading up north of Sydney or for anyone that wants to know what award-winning brisket tastes like!
🥩 Taste of Texas Box $29 - The Taste of Texas Box gives you two meat options and two sides so we opted for the brisket and pulled pork which were both succulent and fatty. The brisket was definitely the highlight. It pulled apart with ease and had a nice smokey flavour (as seen in the red smoke ring). We only wish that there was more of it/thicker cuts of it like we see in the States. The sides are also deserving of their own spotlight: perfectly crispy onion rings and a well-balanced potato salad.
🍗 Smokey Chicken Wingettes $9 - these were incredibly tender to bite into (could clear it off the bone with ease) and they absolutely nailed it on the head with that rub 👌 I actually loved it more than the pulled pork!!
Overall, would definitely recommend paying these guys a visit if you’re ever travelling up north. It was a shame we didn’t have the means to pack more with us or else we would’ve definitely picked up a couple of their frozen pies cause they sounded...

I was pretty keen to stop in to check out Full Throtle. The reviews were pretty good so was excited to arrive.
She was pretty busy on a Saturday morning but according to the person working the register it was a bit slower than normal.
I would have liked to try the lunch menu but due to time constraints i would have to settle for the breakfast menu. This isn’t a complaint as the breakfast menu looked and smelt pretty damn good too.
Ordered the Big Brekky Wrap which didn’t take too long to be ready. Think there was a mix up as on taking a few bits looked like I was given the Brisket Brekky Wrap, oh well, not the end of the world.
It looked great and smelt great but something was missing, maybe the brisket, just didn’t melt in my mouth as I was expecting from a BBQ joint 🤷🏻♂️.
Grabbed some of the packaged brisket and corn to try at home so will see how that goes.
Update to my original review, came back to try the lunch menu and went with the brisket cheeseburger. Man, this thing was huge, heaps of brisket and oozing melted cheese and a few strips of bacon to top it all off. Plus those chips were top notch. They need to install a defib here because that was one burger my Dr won’t be too happy that...
Read moreOne star deducted for selling out of pies before lunch time and for the small size of the pies. I was back in Newy for the day yesterday so I had to hit up Full Throttle as I have heard so much about them. I arrived at 11.45 and all the pies had sold out! So, I grabbed a frozen 4 pack of brisket, jalapeno and cheese (and some kransky's) and took them home to Port Macquarie. I have a car fridge/freezer now so no troubles there. I had a peek in the box as I loaded them into the home freezer. These are a good looking pie. So lunch today. These are a small pie weighing just 200 grams making them one of the smallest pies I have reviewed. At $8.25 per frozen pie, they need to be good. And they are! Lots of visible cheese and jalapenos. The brisket and gravy was superb. The puff pastry top and shortcrust base held together well. This was a 9.5/10 pie and probably the best brisket, jalapeno and cheese...
