I would rate no stars however this is not an option to post my review. I came to enjoy an easter Sunday brunch with my friend. This lovely idea was quickly turned sour when I entered the Foreshore Cafe Nightcliff with my assistance dog and on four different occasions was yelled at because dogs aren’t allowed in the premises. No one bothered to approach me in a gracious manner to check her assistance dog status. I was then rudely spoken to for the rest of my dining experience and given the cold shoulder to make sure I knew that my dog and I weren’t welcome.
I ordered my service dog a baby-chino (puppy-chino) as part of our cafe ritual together. The waitress came over with it presented in a cup and before I could say anything she sprouted at me ‘this isn’t for your dog is it? I responded yes. She looked at me disgusted and said ‘you can’t do that i’m putting this in a takeaway cup. Ok you do that.
I’d like to point out that 1. I was never asked what cup I wanted it in and 2. I had my dog with me the whole time and if the staff actually took the time to recognise us and offer us hospitality she may of actually thought to address the requirements.
Once she brought back the baby-chino in the take away cup - half of it had been spilled out and none of the condiments were served with it. The price wasn’t reduced just the level of presentation. I was then ordered to not let my dog eat anything in the cafe as it’s illegal to allow a dog to eat in cafe. When asked to be presented with this legislation it was not on hand but apparently true according to the general manager. I have provided my email and will wait and see if said ‘legislation’ is provided to me in the near future.
Four people were rude to me, spoke down to me, embarrassed me in front of my friend and the whole cafe. I had people come over and pat my dog and talk to me. I saw people looking over with grimace on their face when they saw how rude the staff were. Not once did the general manager come over and apologise or address me in any way.
I left that cafe symptomatic of my condition because of the stress staff caused upon me through their complete lack of grace and disrespect for a person with a disability.
I’d to thank Alana and the chef for being the only two people to treat us kindly and...
Read moreMy awful experience @ the foreshore cafe I have a really disappointing story to share. Feeling quite flat and belittled today. My experience at the foreshore in nightcliff was just absolutely absimmal. My friend was kind enough to order 4 me asking questions about whether the batter was gluten free as u know the questions can be exhausting some time 4 our people. The batter was not GF and there chips are not done in a separate frier. She also asked whether there was coriander in the slaw, before ordering the burger 4 me, but had forgotten to restipulate GF, although a smart person would assume it was implied by the questions or at the very least confirmed by the waitress. My burger arrived with a milk bun. My friend went to return the burger after realising. She was told that the food could not be returned to the kitchen for health and hygiene reasons, then charged my friend an extra $2 for the bread. My friend returned back to the table while the burger sat in front of me getting cold. As the kitchen refused to take back the food, I pulled the burger apart carefully removing what had been touching the bread, and attempted to have a few bites. After at least 10 mins waiting I was finally brought 2 pieces of GF toast. By this stage I was so upset by my cold food, and the fact I had, had to pull the burger apart myself trying to avoid the bread, that i actually started tearing up. The waitress who brought the GF toast said she would then get her manager. This took at least another 10mins. We were then questioned by the very arrogant manager about whether my friend had actually said the words gluten free or had this only been in her head, he then proceeded to ask me if I really had an allergy how come I had eaten food that had been touching the bread. I clarified I hadn't I had pushed aside the bacon bread and lettuce that had touched the bread. I was absolutely disgusted by the arrogance and rude approach by this manager and my treatment at this trumped up cafe that is really a wolf in sheep's clothing when it comes to be a good place to go for people with dietary restrictions. It is hard enough to go out and eat sometimes without this absolute bully standing over me asking 4 me to explain my dietary habits and insinuated whether I really...
Read moreAs a regular customer since this cafe opened, and a local to Darwin, I have always recommended this place for a nice breakfast along the beach. Unfortunately I will no longer, and I will not be returning. They have changed the menu, no more sweet potato fritters which was my favourite to have with my breakfast. Instead the fritters have been replaced with frozen tiny triangular hasbrowns. I guess it's cheaper and mass produced, easier. I ordered the "big breakfast" which states on the menu "served with hashbrowns on slices of artisan bread" implying that there is more then 1 hashbrown and more then 1 peice of bread. My food came out out stone cold, my singular tiny hashbrown was cold and soggy. My 2 cold and barely poached, poached eggs were on 1 singular slice of small toast. 3 cold peices of barely cooked bacon. The mushrooms were button mushroom out of a can that were barely sauteed with no flavour. Barely edible, the only hot thing on the plate was the chorizo sausage. Couldnt even raise my concerns with anyone due to the line out the door and all staff run off their feet. Extremely busy and no tables, I had to allow a family to sit with me at my own table. Will not be returning again. Very dissapointed considering this cafe used to be so amazing and the food used to be...
