We drove pass Nowra for our south coast getaway, and made a quick detour to check out this sushi place that people are raving about. Walking into the shop, the first impression was that the shop was messy - sticky floor and old furnishing. No sushi display, not even a picture of menu item. But none of these matter because "the proof is in the sushi", so we ordered a large platter of sushi rolls for takeaway. The service was quick and we waited about 15 minutes and walked out with a freshly made sushi platter with around 40 sushi rolls. The sushis looked ok, however a little heavy on rice and not a lot of fillings. And they were warm, like really warm... we've had our fair share of sushis from takeaway, sushi trains and Japanes restaurants, warm sushi is a first. Then we noticed the taste - there was no acidity and sweetness from the sushi rice seasoning (vinegar and sugar), they tasted really bland. The sushi rice was also slightly undercooked, it feels a little firm. Overall it was an underwhelming experience to say the least. We don't know how this place got such a high review rating. Maybe they had to rush a batch of sushi rice to make our order, maybe they forgot to add the sushi rice seasoning, maybe we were just unlucky and got the chef on...
Read moreBest, most genuine service I’ve ever had! I made a phone booking for 8pm, the lady who took my booking didn’t hesitate in accepting it at all. I also asked if there was outdoor seating as we were bringing our puppy, she said there wasn’t but they would put a table out the front for us. When we got there, the sign on the door said they closed at 7:30pm - meaning they stayed open just for us (I didn’t realise otherwise I would have booked for earlier) and as promised, there was one table out the front for us. The staff were so friendly and you could see they really took pride in and cared about giving the best possible experience. The food was just beautiful! Real, homemade, aunthetic and fresh. The prices were also very decent. I would definitely...
Read moreThis isn't a Sushi place you will easily find, nor is it a place that has visual appeal. East Nowra Shopping Centre saw it's better days maybe over a decade ago, yet it's still there. Probably one of the ugliest, dirtiest "shopping centres" I've ever seen. Yet...in amongst the despair is this Sushi place...and had I not been told to ignore the surroundings and go there I would have driven out the moment I arrived! The Sushi...yum!! Spotlessly clean inside, super friendly owners, superbly fresh Sushi. Excellent pricing makes it quite popular in this low socio economic area. It's SO good I went back many times while...
