My wife and I visited the Botanical Gardens in Orange and stumbled upon a coffee shop in the carpark. When we arrived at 2:52 pm, the staff member informed us that the coffee machine was broken. We opted for sparkling wine and carrot cake instead. After paying $38, we sat down in the restaurant area after being told by the girl who we paid our money to that we could sit in there, only to be told by another staff member that they were closed, she literally walked up to us and stated that "we are closed, you cant sit here". Despite our payment and the presence of other customers, she insisted that they were closed and was extremely rude about it. We were shocked by her behavior and I tried to questioned her about, she ignored me and just walked past, then five minutes later came up and asked what we require. I asked her why she was so ride to us, and why she was still taking orders from other people if the place was closed. She said that they are here for lunch and didnt explain why her rudeness was necessary. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by her rudeness. The only bright spot was the staff member who poured our Prosecco, who was friendly and hardworking despite having one arm in a sling. My wife felt so uncomfortable sipping on the sparkling wine, and just wanted to leave. Thats no way to have to feel in any food venue. She didnt even finish the glass, if it wasn't me insisting we stay and finish, she would have left the cake and wine untouched.
The rude young lady was tall, slim with pants to the top of her ankles. Ask the guy pouring our...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhy We Should Support Local! I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Eat Botanic today, located next to the beautiful Botanic Gardens. This cafĆ© truly delivers a relaxed atmosphere, excellent service, and delicious food and drinks at great prices. The corn fritters were a standout, a generous serve topped with bacon, perfectly poached eggs, spinach, beetroot relish, balsamic glaze, and a sprinkle of dukkah. The fish and chips arrived in another hearty portion, served with salad, lemon and tartare sauce, while the garlic prawns were declared ādelicious,ā complete with garlic bread on the side. The menu offers plenty of choice, with most meals ranging between $20 and $30. I was impressed that the kidsā menu went well beyond the usual chicken nuggets and chips, and there were solid gluten-free and vegetarian options available too. Service was another highlight. The team looked professional, they were friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to enjoy being there. The host, Ray, was especially welcoming, happy to chat but equally respectful of dinersā space. Supporting local businesses keeps money circulating in our community, and Eat Botanic is a perfect example of why it matters. I highly recommend this gem, and if youāve already been, Iām sure...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI think that they are understaffed for a Saturday with a steady of customers arriving at the cafe/restaurant. There were only one front server and one waitstaff faced customers arriving at the front door. They have wiped the spill on the tiled floor. A safety hazard. When we (four people) arrived for brunch, the front server was not there. We waited for around 10 minutes before we were seated. We were not given a menu after sitting at our table. It took the wait staff at least 15 minutes before getting our orders. Our food was served after 40 minutes. The coffee that I ordered was served much later, maybe after 10 minutes. The seating has a good view of the garden and traffic in front of the cafe/restaurant. The weather was warm, but the A/C was coping inside the cafe/restaurant. The place is neat with beautiful wallpapers. The floral centrepiece is pretty. The food tastes good: boscaiola, fish and chips, and corn fritters; I think they are over-priced, $25-35. Note: Expect the 10% weekend/holiday surcharge. Recommendation: Donāt go there hungry. Expect to wait. Last thought: Would I go back? Not really. The food, price and service have not convinced me to bring my family back there. I probably would not...
