Excellent guide and service from Ken, who was there to patiently explain what's available at the Peak Coffee. Although we did not get to buy an electric grinder we wanted, we bought 1kg of the Peak Pulse ($43) and 500gms of the Honduras ($28) ground beans instead. My wife and I were given to taste the different coffee brewed from the assortment of selected beans and ended up with the Pulse, which has a more balanced coffee taste, while the Honduras beans has a stronger roast taste and less acidic. Ken also explained the type of grinder to look out for, in particular the cone head and twin cutter grinders, which will produce better grounded beans, as compared with the blade grinder. A stop not to be missed for those wanting to experience, taste and know more of coffee and to buy freshly grounded coffee beans. This is also the place where you can be trained to be a barista or return to refresh...
Read moreThis place is next level for expertise and customer service. We've tried a range of beans for our home espresso but nothing beats Peak Premium Blend for quality. We went in to get our fix of freshly roasted beans this morning and picked Aidan's brains about how to optimise our daily coffee with our home setup. The man is a guru, and we approached him like acolytes at a temple! He knows the ins and outs of anything coffee, and talked to us about everything from roast techniques to coffee machine mechanics. Then we got a sneak peek at Betty, the 80 year old cast iron roasting machine out the back and the story of their unique and time honoured relationship with coffee growers in India. With this great blend of service and expertise with some of the best espresso we have ever tasted, we are certain to be loyal customers of...
Read more$20 for what is in effect supermarket grade coffee - nothing single origin about the coffee at all - each bag is a mix of split or empty coffee bean shells, darkly over-roasted beans, lightly roasted beans, half beans etc. Each of their roasts are in effect without any flavour profile other than bitterness / over-roasted, mashed togther by poor roasting and really just cheaply sourced beans. For $20 a bag I wonder how they stay in business, as at that price point we're starting to get into the coffee territory (or higher than house blends fo made of many @$16 / 250gm) of specialty brands that ship directly to my door such as Seven Seeds, Reuben Hills, Made of Many, St Ali,...
