We came in to grab lunch, a drink and something sweet for our group of 6. No friendly greeting, or greeting at all actually! No one actually used their voices to ask who was next or actually attempt to serve people. It seemed the younger ones were wary of the older woman. She spoke very quietly, if at all. We were trying to figure out what the kids wanted from the selection available. We urged the couple who came in after us to go first. Once they were done, the older woman was extremely rude, making us feel like we were such an inconvenience being customers in (I'm assuming) her bakery. Then she had the audacity to bang her tongs on the warmer to get my mums attention (my mum didn’t hear her ask anything), as she was finishing talking to my 5yr old niece about what she wanted. Then she got even grumpier and actually acted surprised when my sister in law actually called her out on her behaviour and told her how rude she was. We promptly left. I can understand why Kiplings Bakery up the road had a line coming out the door and this place doesn't. If you want terrible service and an endless choice of vanilla slice and not much else, come here! We drove on to Two Wells and got much...
Read moreStopped here on the day after Boxing Day, just a little way into a full day’s drive in a heat wave, on my daughter’s birthday. Needed coffee, birthday breakfast, and a toilet, and this bakery was a welcome sight. Appreciated the good signage taking people to the toilet location. The bakery was lovely and cool and inside and out the decor was very welcoming and pretty. Places to sit, which was nice, and plenty of staff. However, the service was awful. The staff looked at my daughter and I as if we’d just crawled out of a rubbish bin, and spoke to us in the same manner. I used to be the manageress of a bakery- I know about early starts, very busy workload, and working in the heat. However, this was a lovely cool shop, the staff weren’t rushed off their feet, and my daughter and I were nothing but polite. There was just no excuse for this attitude towards their customers. A shame. I liked everything else about it: the coffee, the food, the location, the decor… but if I ran this place I’d either train or sack my employees before they chased all the...
Read moreI'm always reluctant to criticize a small business, but equally, I also don't want my intelligence insulted with generous 5 star reviews for average fare. The staff were pleasant, but nothing special, the food was okay, but nothing special, considering the prices were not cheap. The coffee also was okay, but needed to be much better. I did not enjoy my pasty with sauce, my partner had a steak & mushroom pie & like a previous reviewer, struggled to find more than a single thin slice of mushroom, pastry that was hard & dry & meat that should have been better quality, not good enough. We were both surprised with the average quality of their products, including cakes, when you consider their immediate competition further down the road that provide superior product. Small business must learn, have it ETCHED in their mind, they thrive & survive on REPEAT business. We, however, will not return to this establishment when there are much better quality options on the same...
