Golden Star Buffet Restaurant — Restaurant in Proserpine

We wanted to grab a meal and sit down. But only option to sit down was buffet, which was much more expensive than ordering individual dish. So we ordered take away.

Good turned out quite blunt. Overly salted. Despite me and my partner ordering different dish, it tasted just the same.

Noodles were overcooked and mushy. “Mongolian combination” turned out just a variety of proteins cooked together in a sauce. No rice, noodles or side with that. Also…prawns?? In Mongolia?? 🙈 Only a small handful of veggies. It looked like when we just cook up literally all leftovers from the fridge…pork was a piece of rubber…

Probably, it’s not a bad place to go if you want to sit down for a buffet and just consume a ton of food of different variety for a price of 1.5 meals. You’ll probably find something to your liking (range is not big though).

We were thinking that we would get our takeaway food instantly, because we assumed this would come out of the already precooked buffet Bain Marie’s…but it was not the case…30 minute wait was our destiny…not ideal given we were super hungry and keen to...

We visited Golden Star for their buffet on Friday night with the in-laws and our 7 month old son.

The service was fantastic, and we were all very impressed by the young lady who served and attended to us for the evening. She was friendly, polite and even pre-empted our request for the cutlery that was missing from the service bar, and brought them straight to our table.

As for the food, they had all of the expected Chinese dishes on offer, and each one was just as good as the last. We were all very impressed with our visit overall.

The only thing that I feel could improve the experience would be some wall hangings or artworks that fit the theme. Whilst I absolutely loved the pattern of wallpaper, it did feel a little bare inside. Having said that, it was still a 5 star dinner and I look forward to...

Spent a night in Proserpine and decided to go out for a dinner. We were very reluctant to try a Chinese restaurant in a small town, especially since the inside was practically empty, but we were pleasantly surprised. Got a chicken dish, a noodles and beef dish and a rice dish. All were excellent, way above what we were expecting. The staff was friendly and helpful. The wait time did seem a bit long, but they were also busy with quite a few pre ordered meals. Would recommend...
