Hotel Metropole Proserpine — Restaurant in Proserpine

We paid for a room on a Friday for myself my partner and my child as he had a tournament in the town we travelled several hours to get here. Staff were nice but they were not very accommodating with their accomodation loud music was played from 9pm until early hours of the morning the loudness and the bass came up through the floor and kept us awake. I called and asked if they could turn down the bass on the music which they did at first and told us the music will be finishing up in half an hour, didn't last long and music was turned up even further. I had to physically get up out of bed at 12:30am to go speak to bar staff as we could no longer stand the noise and were exhausted. I went into the bar they told me they were finishing up in 10 minutes the loud music continued. This is just not satisfactory they could have still had the music up just not that loud it was ridiculously loud and the bass was vibrating the floors and walls of the whole top of the hotel. We were not the only ones who were kept awake. My son started his martial arts championship tournament this morning with no energy and I now have to drive several hours home with lack of sleep. I get it was a Friday night and a pub but I think a little regard for people who pay money for a room should be given. Stopped in for a pub feed while in town for an event and tried the beef cheeks and my friend had the chicken ceasar salad, the beef cheeks were that oily and fatty i only got through half of it before it felt like i was going to have a heart attack and the salad wasnt even a salad nothing was prepared fresh the only thing that was worth eating was the chips and diane sauce. Worst food ive paid for. Kfc would have been a better feed for less than a quarter of the price and the waitress with red hair got the chicken ceasar salad order wrong then said snide comments about us while walking away. We also ordered a cheescake dessert and it looked and tasted like it was a frozen one from the supermarket if i wanted a pre made frozen cheescake id go to the shops myself. My other mate ordered a beef burger and it was well done on the outside and raw in the middle which isnt safe for minced meat. All the staff looked like they didnt want to be there and made us feel like we were an inconvinience to them after spending over $300 on dinner and drinks. Such a good meal! Stopped in for a meal and I'm so glad for that decision. The kitchen closes at 1400hrs and coming from a hospitality background I know that once the last 30mins ticks over staff begin to make excuses to not cook certain items on the menu. Not the case here! Staff didn't care for the time and we're happy to oblige our order. The Angus burger was outstanding! Juicy and perfectly seasoned. The meals are big! Which is what you hope for from a country pub. The facilities are very clean and the menu has plenty of variety at most reasonable prices. Next time I'm back in the Proserpine area, I'll be heading...
