To Whom It May Concern, or rather, To Whomever Has Dismantled a Once-Beloved Institution,
I write this with a heavy heart, a heart weighed down by the leaden disappointment of what was once my favorite bakery. What was once a beacon of artisanal excellence is now a hollow shell, a testament to the devastating effects of ruthless cost-cutting.
Remember the flaky, golden croissants that practically melted in your mouth? They've been replaced by pale, doughy imitations, tasting suspiciously like they were mass-produced in a factory miles away. The rich, buttery aroma that used to greet you at the door? Now it's the faint, unsettling scent of... what, exactly? Cheap shortening and despair?
And the cakes! Oh, the cakes! The once-sumptuous layers, bursting with fresh fruit and decadent cream, have been reduced to sad, dense slabs, their frosting a sickly sweet, artificial-tasting smear. It's as if someone replaced the baker with a robot programmed to maximize profit and minimize flavor.
The once-vibrant display cases, overflowing with tempting treats, are now sparsely populated with a meager selection of lackluster pastries. It's a culinary ghost town, a stark reminder of the glorious past that has been so carelessly discarded. It's clear the new owners have mistaken "streamlining" for "gutting." They've sacrificed quality on the altar of profit, and the result is a product that is utterly unrecognizable, and utterly unacceptable. This isn't baking; it's an insult to the very concept.
I implore you, new owners, to reconsider your approach. You've not just lost a customer; you've betrayed a community that cherished this bakery. You've taken something special and turned it into something utterly, utterly ordinary.
Do yourselves, and your former patrons, a favor: either restore the bakery to its former glory, or close your doors. You're doing a disservice to the art of baking, and frankly, to anyone...
Read moreAfter buying an apple turnover and a pie this morning then walking outside with my son someone yelled loudly " oi" at us, I turned around to see a guy which I initially thought may be some crack head or something cos there was no reason for someone I didn't know to yell out at us. There was a pause then he continued towards us accusing us of stealing a loaf of bread ( which we most definitely had not and it was plain to see, we are both skinny and had no where to hide a loaf of bread.) He had already put us down as guilty in his mind without nicely approaching us, just accusations which I didn't stand for and then he got upset when I swore in my reply ( not at him, in my sentence after just being accused of stealing.) Some people need to know their place and how their actions affect others, your a baker, im a single mum who has been through hell n back because of people like you trying to bring me down, but still managed to buy my 4th property last month. We will never spend another cent of my hard earned money at this bakery. The way that was handled...
Read moreProbably the best bakery in Mackay, although that's not saying much. The sweet bakery items are decent, specifically the cream donuts, apple turnovers and vanilla slice. The bread is also good. The pies and sausage rolls range from bad to average (there is no love put into these items, they may as well come from some mass produced junk store like Baker's Delight). Pasties are the only thing in the hot section...
