The food is five star. I had pies- shepherds looked amazing the lamb was great quality and chunky- tiny but sweet for me but still really yum, very long sausage rolls, drinks, a Christmas cake that is to die for! And even though is priced at $18 for a large cake… my large family are still eating it with joy! They have fresh Vienna loaves and yum little finger buns in the display. The place unfortunately was quite rushed. People didn’t greet me kindly. Is it too hard to declutter your small store and use smiles. Even though you had nearly 9 visitors I counted ten staff. And they were pushy and as I came In towards the door with my covid app open- the lady rudely demanded I check in- hello that’s why my phone was outstretched in my hand. Unfortunately that was so unfriendly I doubt I’ll return in a hurry. Despite the food being lovely. The store itself is so untidy. And the clutter is gross. I didn’t no where to look- nothing had prices except the drinks. And the furniture is outdated and rickety. I hope you see this review and respond. I’ve a million suggestions to make your store nice. The first being train your older blonde female staff. And the second to make proper signage and clean everything up. Lastly you didn’t have any sanitiser as I left the store. I did ask. And you( same rude lady) said no it’s indoors only. And seeing as I’d already come out of the doors. I chose to tell you this experience and let you know this gets a very poor review when you can’t do covid safety properly. I shall report to qld health my findings. And I need you to take this seriously. I’m not a ā€œKarenā€ my reviews are in the millions of views. I’m well travelled and I expect basic hygiene. It can’t go on. Come on babinda bakery. You could be a awesome place. May this find you up skilling and working yourselves out asap. I’m happy to revisit and re do my review if invited when you’re ready...

Hi guys. Just visited the bakery today and they had some lovely goodies my partner could eat. I am vegetarian and gluten free so assumed there wouldn't be anything for me but there was a sign for Vegan Gluten Free Sausage Rolls so I thought "how lucky am I?!" Asked for the vegan gluten free sausage roll and the lady went to the back to grab me one. How exciting! Meat and gluten make me really sick (for weeks) so it is exciting to have a vego option while also being Gluten Free. We paid and started eating it outside while waiting for coffee, but as I was eating it I noticed it looked a lot like meat in the sausage roll. So I went back in to ask if this was the Vegan Gluten Free roll I ordered and asked if this was a clever meat substitute, and the lady responded that it is Gluten free. So I asked again if it was the vegan and gluten free one and she said she would check out the back. Then she came out and said the one I was eating wasn't vegan as the vegan ones haven't been cooked yet. But she didn't inform me that when we were initially ordering. I wouldn't have ordered or eaten this one if I had known that. And as I stood there confused and worried about how sick I am going to be, the lady didn't apologise or anything. I explained I would be sick yet she didn't care whatsoever. And the whole time I was being nice and respectful. I wasn't being rude. Afterwards I started crying in the car because I felt humiliated like I was somehow in the wrong. Just feeling pretty upset that they didn't want to help me. I asked for a refund which was fine but it was more about the attitude towards my situation that upset me. If you guys are going to offer foods that say vegan and gluten free, please be aware to label them correctly and communicate with your customer to avoid any allergic reactions in the future. Otherwise it might be best to not offer those...

When going to or thru Babinda a visit to this bakery is a must. Famous for pies but they also have other treats that you'd find in a typical Australian bakery.

When I went (approx noon on a Saturday) the queue was long with customers snaking outside of the shop to place their order. It took about 10 mins to get to the front of the line.

My partner doesn't eat beef or other red meats. In most bakeries / pie shops that's a major limitation for choice. While it eliminated many of the pies on the menu here they still had a good selection of chicken &/or vegetable pies, about 6-7 choices which is a lot better than other similar shops.

The pies were good, maybe not the best I've ever had but they were good.

The disappointments were 1) our order was taken by someone on work experience; while this was my first time there they clearly didn't know the pies as I was told what I wanted wasn't available; I pointed to the type of pie I wanted that was in the warming tray and got the response of "oh, I see"; I know people have to start their working life somewhere but it was disappointing that my first exposure to their service was poor. 2) there are not enough tables and chairs for the large number of customers wanting to eat their pie while at the shop. They were probably built as a takeaway shop so the fact they provide any seating is good; unfortunately their success brings a probably unfair criticism.

The photos show a butter chicken pie, a chicken cranberry & brie pie (both hot) and an apple pie (cold, to take home)....

Under thick misty skies where cassowaries walk, And cane fields roll out like green songs to the sun, There’s a small bakery, rain-marked and stubborn A sugar-town kitchen where warmth comes in crust. No fancy pie, this one. No frills. Made for hands rough from blades and the past. The Beef and Curry—simple, not special A farmer’s meal, built from the dirt it grew in. The mince, thick with tales the old mill forgot, Spiced like storm winds cutting through cane and years. The pastry cracks like dried cane skin, Brittle as leaves under jungle twilight. Every bite’s a wet-season ghost, Of steam off hot puddles, roosters yelling back. This pie doesn’t shout. It fits. Talks in words of wet dawns and tractor fumes, Of fruit-heavy rains and burnt-mouth coffee, Where each chew knows the cutter’s tired bones. So lift your fork under Bartle Frere’s hulk, To a pie made by storm and sweat Babinda’s truth, plain and fed, A beef and curry story in every bite.

We had the apricot chicken pie with cream cheese, which seemed to be missing the chicken, the hot chilli pie which we had to throw away, it was ridiculously hot in chilli spice (and we thought we had a pretty good tolerance) the pea pie was a dissapointment compared to other shops along the coast with very little pea. Cornflake cookies were okay and raised the stars here and the bacon and cheese bread and cheese and chives bread were amazing! Hence the ither 2 star lift rating. . Not enough chairs and tables available but not much room for more on this premises.
