Not overly impressed with the service. We had a pre booked late Sunday lunch and on arrival they immediately sat us outside in the half converted patio with winter wind gusts coming through the plastic shade cloths. Menus were handed to us and the waitress walked away.
The inside dining room was mostly empty from the amount of toilet and bar trips we took during our entire sitting. It made us wonder why they would make guests sit outside during winter if they didn't need to? The fire place wasn't even on either.
We ordered meals immediately after we realised there was no table service, and were told certain items not on the menu. The staff struggled after this time to mix and match meats and vegetables that were available to accommodate dietary needs the unavailable meal would have provided. It held up the line of people going back and forth while they tried to convince me to select options I'm not tolerant to eat.
Drinks took 20 mins to arrive (beer, whiskey, soda water). The staff advised on delivery that the whiskey we had the day before during the Tasting Session was not available and offered a selection of other options similar in rate. Another 15 minutes later his replacement drink arrived but then he saw a bottle of the original whiskeyon the shelf inside half open.
At the 1hr 15min mark, 2 entrees arrived. At 1hr 30 mark, I asked where the food was when 4 mains arrived and 10 mins later the final 2. The food was lovely but holy heck we were cold, hungry, sober and plain old grumpy about being kept in the dark about the lack of things they're struggling with. The following morning we went back to get scones and coffee that they advertise. Paid for everything, sat down and 5 mins later told that no scones were available for the day and they couldn't do take away coffee unless we purchased it at the adjoining gift store.
We've booked accom for next year and already decided to treat ourselves to a day trip out to a nice pub...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLack of compassion and customer service is an understatement for the level of service we received. Highly disappointing dining experience. We booked for a birthday dinner and on our booking we advised we had a pram. When we turned up our table was in the ācoveredā outdoor area. Seeing as it was nearly 0 degrees and windy we asked if we could please have a table inside as it was too cold for our 3 month old baby outside, to which we were met with a rude and blunt āsorry weāre fully bookedā (during our meal there were plenty of empty tables). There was no attempt to look and try to accomodate. When I asked if we could just swap with another table we were met with āNo sorry, we cannot accommodate the pram insideā. Having been in, I could see one of the booths in the corner had room for the pram where it would not block anyones way to serve, I pointed this out and asked, and again was met with a blunt no and advised that ātechnical we had been seated insideā. The area was only protected by plastic walls and a non insulated roof to attempt to keep the heat from the fire in (which wasnāt being maintained) Finally after many attempts we were moved. This was just the start of our ordeal. We were advised they had run out of Bundy Rum to then see a bottle on the back bar 10mins later, when we enquired we were advised it had been āre-stockedā, so in other words when we ordered it they couldnāt be bothered to get another bottle from the store. My partner ordered a double shot of a rather expensive whiskey, when it came to the table it was only a single, when asked the waiter just said āyea itās a doubleā, it clearly wasnāt. Again ācanāt be botheredā to check. We had to go to the bar a correct the order ourselves. My partners birthday dinner was ruined. Lesson learnt to cook if staying in the cabins, as clearly management canāt be ābotheredā to invest in proper training for employees and the behaviour is reflected in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWebsite said Tavern open 10am - 9 pm for meals however this wasn't the case. When we arrived at Tavern at 3pm for a hot meal were told not open until 4:30 pm for dinner. Only coffee & cakes available. Their Cafe below had served meals but had closed at 2:30pm. Quite disappointing confusing & unapologetic about their miscommunication. Please clarify meals & times properly/ professionally on website esp after an hour & a half travel & sightseeing. There are only two places to eat up there! Fortunately lovely Poppies cafe were open until 4pm good service & food. ** Got owners response & OOPS they must have got us mixed up with another disappointed couple that day- & also not read review properly.š¤·āāļø We did not order a soy latte etc or sadly anything at all. We went to Poppies Cafe. Dear owner please care & read your website & review/s carefully... they serve as an opportunity for you to correct change & improve your business for your success! As a previous small business owner myself it helps to be less defensive & more attentive. There are only TWO food outlets at Bunyas ....yours & Poppies Cafe so it is important to get this (or any small business right) especially if you've travelled for over an hour or two to visit the beautiful Bunyas. Website did & still says open 10am - 9pm. You have the Tavern as well as your Cafe below. Please indicate when both areas serve hot meals & finish serving. For example. Lunch: 10am to 2:30 or 3pm if that's the case Dinner menu at the Tavern 4:30 pm - 8 or 9pm Menus show different times too š¤¦āāļøš¤·āāļø Some other reviews also said serving meals times needed clarification too. Please address this issue. Having worked in hospitality as a chef & front of house train staff to perhaps say "I apologise for any misunderstanding/ inconvenience what can we do to help"... We did stay 3 years ago - booked & had dinner - it was quite good. Really hope...
