I have been taking family and friends to the Cafe for years. Got to the Cafe excited to have a bit to eat on my Birthday with my 2 year old and 5 year old and my mum who had travelled from Tasmania. 2:10pm a little late for lunch but super hungry after doctor visits for the kids. To be very rudely told that Lunch had finished at 2. I shrugged it off and said to my mum oh sorry I thought the Cafe closed at 3pm. The waitress rudely turned around practically yelled saying the kitchen is closed. VERY BAD HOSPITALITY. So sad. I'm never going back. Service has been getting worse and worse everytime I go there... Every one looked miserable in there which just shows that we weren't the only ones getting this lovely attitude... FYI I would have been happy with a coffee and slice of cake.
In reply to your comment: Umm... just look through your reviews. Clearly you have a problem with rude staff. Yes I was upset that Lunch was finished, who wouldn't be after a long day, but that is not what made me angry it was the way your staff member spoke to me and my family that day. Not once did she mention that the deep fryer was still on she just raised her voice and very bluntly and arrogantly said that the kitchen closed at 2pm the Cafe closes at 3 pm. She then stormed off to the kitchen. I should have just walked out and not gave your business one cent, but I had promised the kids an ice cream. Hence why I went back in for the ice creams. I did not throw the ice creams at the counter, but yes, I hastily put them down after the rude attitude she showed me. And sorry, maybe she didn't 'practically yell' at me, but she did raise her voice and tone the second time she spoke to me. I have worked in hospitality and know that there is a right and a wrong way to talk to customers. If customers are going to dine at your cafe they should be prepared for rude service. Great food, just rude...
Read moreSo disappointing. Visiting Bundaberg for just a few days and this was unfortunately one of our experiences.
In summary, the staff need more training and possibly support. Had the attitude been better, we may have stayed.
Sat down for lunch at 11.30. On ordering i was told the Barramundi was unavailable so i switched to a schnitzel. I was also told that they only have 3 high chairs and they were all in use. Pretty poor for a large family venue. I was approached 10 minutes later and told that there are also no schnitzels. All of this news was delivered very bluntly. No apologies or alternatives suggested or anything. This situation could have been recovered with the right front of house staff. We were made to feel so unwelcome that we requested a refund and left.
One of the table staff, a younger blonde girl, was trying her best but clearly overworked and lacking proper direction.
This is a leadership issue.
A final piece of advice to all rest aurants. please don't just have junk food on the kids menu. I ordered my 20month old an adult omelette just to avoid the standard rubbish. A childrens sized/priced omelette would have...
Read moreWay to stop me returning to Cafe1928. Bundy Council cafe in the Botanical Gardens. Charge me $3.00 on top of my purchase because itâs a public holiday! I feel this business wants to make it hard for people on a strict budget so they donât return there. Btw the small hot chips @ $6 are so awful! Donât buy them!
Replying to your reply to my complaint/review that is my prerogative these days as absolutely no one will confront staff while on the job as they are working for an employer who tells them how to cook, serve and be whatever they are told to do so they get paid or put off. And thatâs why they are away from their families on a public holiday. Not for total blessing to customers so they have somewhere to eat. There are plenty of places to eat that donât add surcharge. And your sign should be more visible OUTSIDE. For the potential customers who donât read reviews so they can make a choice...
