Cafe Nova Townsville — Restaurant in Queensland

Treated very rudely by one of the staff members tonight who i presume is the owner. Barking at us at our table. My mum who has servere allergies asked for lactose free milk was given a coffee with lactose free milk in it which was off. She took it up after a few sips and said she wasnt going to pay for it and didnt want another one, staff member grabbed it off her and said ok and walked away. Went up to pay at the end and told manager that we were not going to pay for that coffee as the milk was off. He turned around and said "well u drank half of it and you asked for lactose free milk AND we opened a bottle uo especially for you". My mum apologied and said im sorry but the milk was off, he said "fine whatever" then snatched the money out of her hands and walked away. My dad stepped in and said "listen mate,the milk".. was abruptly brushed off and the guy said "goodbye". Will never ever ever be coming back again. No apology from anyone. I was...

We accidentally discovered Cafe Nova this morning. I'm so happy we did! The food was wonderful, well priced, and very very plentiful! The three gentlemen working were all so lovely, and the coffee is strong and smooth.

DO NOT pass up a slice of the caramel tart, we took it home for afternoon tea, along with a chunk of apple teacake. It's so rare to find a Cafe with proper homemade sweets (not FoodService frozen delights), and these are worth the calories. The caramel is not too sweet, and the biscuit base is amazing all on its own.

We had the savoury mince, which was rich and tasty. The poached eggs on the salmon Benny were the best soft poached I've seen in Townsville, they held together and then burst spectacularly.

We'll be back, and I'll be bringing mum and dad next time. It's worth calling in to check out all the vintage stuff around, including a very cool...

Going into Café Nova was a last minute decision, as a friend were going to see a movie around the corner. Its a funky little setting and the two guys running it were very cool, nothing was a problem for them. We ordered breakfast and coffee, sat down while checking things out around us, my friend decided she wanted to have a glass of champagne to go with breakfast.
