HeyDays Cafe & Events — Restaurant in Queensland

I used to enjoy Heyday Cafe in Townsville, but sadly, my recent visit left much to be desired. The staff seemed uninterested in providing any level of customer service, with no pleasantries like “please” or “thank you” during the ordering process. One staff member, in particular—the girl wearing leopard-print pants—stood out for her lack of manners and professionalism.

Instead of focusing on customers, the staff appeared more engaged in talking amongst themselves, eating and scrolling on their phones. It felt as though the patrons were an inconvenience rather than the priority.

It’s disappointing to see a café that once had a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere lose its appeal so drastically. I hope the management addresses these issues, as a return to good customer service could easily bring back the charm that Heyday Cafe...

I wanted to try this place out based on recommendations. I am from Melbourne and really appreciate a good breakfast. On walking in I wasn’t greeted and had to walk up to the counter to ask how it works - if it’s table service or we order at the counter. This was fine not terrible however what was terrible was when my friend asked what vegetarian options they have on the menu. To our surprise the waiter replies “you’ll have to read the menu”. My friend said ‘I need some help” to which the waiter changed her tone and then started to assist. It seems that this place needs to change their attitude as it’s a customer service/hospitality. Sad to say our experience today was dreadful. We were here 2 months ago & the food, atmosphere and service were great. But today terrible! Firstly the menu was different from before & fewer options. The place was near empty but coffee was delivered lukewarm after asking for extra hot. Our meals came 10 minutes apart for each person. On enquirying if the other meals were coming the staff were quite rude. Two of us had a burger which had no salad, the meat was tasteless & looked unappealing. The last meal that arrived almost half an hour after the first was lukewarm & not cooked properly. How can our experiences be so different from 2 months ago? Has the business changed ownership? Was it because it was Monday? Who knows but I'm not sure we're willing...
