I really don't know what's all the bad reviews about. I did a hardcore test before I drop a review now. I live in Townsville and frequently travel to Cairns and back. I stop by Cardwell every single time (much more than 10 up to this point) to fuel up and to enjoy the view. The sea calms me down. The BP fuel I've filled up has always been good on my car. I've had chips, chicken sandwiches, Ceasar wraps, Bundabergs, Beers, Chicken Burgers, energy drinks, smoothies, milkshakes and smokes heaps of times from here. I've never had any issues with the service. Yes, sometimes when a bus load of tourists come it's a lot to handle for the staff, they are only human beings! All the tourists who come, leave their filth on the tables and the staff has to juggle between cleaning them up and also serving me. So of course, there will be a delay which I totally understand. I wait patiently. Still, they manage to keep the place neat and tidy. Including the toilets, I've never found it to be dirty and I've always done my part of paying honestly and then taking a shower. I had the classic fish and chips today first thing in the morning and it tasted gorgeous! The quantity was generous and the chips were appropriately crispy. There is ample sitting space with phone and laptop charging points and the place is open from early morning till midnight. I've never seen it closed unless I am passing through after midnight. What more could you ask for? Keyboard warriors are making this review section like angry twitter. While enjoying the view, i see heaps of people have food from here and enjoying it. Nobody bothers to put a review unless it's a bad one. Might as well I put a start...

I can truly say that this venue has set a new low for food that I've had the displeasure of experiencing.

From the giant crab figure on the roof, the worst I expected from the Seaview was to be gimmicky in that they serve an average crab burger at best - but the mushy, tasteless excuse for a crab burger that was served to me fell far below my expectations. I am truly not one to waste food, and I cannot recall the last time I refused to eat a meal, but this one would have been insulting to my own conscience (and possibly my gastrointestinal system) to eat.

The staff were unfriendly, barely offering more then a glance when they look my $20 note, and the service wasn't even quick. The crab burger was a paste of breadcrumbs and cheap spicy Thai sauce with, perhaps, some tiny portion of tasteless crab lost in the equation. It truly was the consistency of wet cat food yet I somehow believe that a can of Fancy Feast would prove more appetising. Even the onion rings served alongside were coated with a tasteless batter. The lettuce was good, I suppose?

I understand that cooks and restauranteurs may put their hearts into their menu, but I cannot fathom that the food I was served was meant to appeal to anyone except the ignorant passerby traveller looking to indulge in a local restaurant. By the time said traveller has paid their price, it's too late to turn back.

Truly a low point of my culinary experiences and not even deserving of my time to write this review - but moreso, not deserving of those who try their excuse for food. I feel bad for the crab that got...

Ordered grilled coral trout, from the grumpy unfriendly Indian women, thinking it’s impossible to stuff up such a tasty fish. The sign out the front says famous fish and chips, well I can quite comfortably tell you it’s definitely not famous for any good reasons. Hands down the worst! fish and chips I’ve ever! had! the fish smelt fishy as hell! the chips stale and cold, the salad was below average but by far the best thing on the plate. At $25 it was a complete rip off!! It was that bad that I had to ask the chef if the fish was fresh, his answer of course was yes very fresh! I asked him if he eats fish himself, he said no I don’t! I told him it was the worst fish and chips I’d ever had on my 42 years on this planet, he said no one else complains, I told him yes that’s because they don’t have the balls. The indian lady instantly started defending the food. She told me the chips were hot and fish very fresh. But it was not!! it was absolutely disgusting! we were both still hungry and had to stop at Maccas afterwards to fill the gap. I STRONGLY!! recommend you boycott this place. The food in Uganda was 10x better than this and trust me it wasn’t good in that country. Save your money and go elsewhere!! if I could give minus 10 stars you’d...

Because of all the bad reviews we went to the pub next door for lunch, what a dive! Smelly and dismal, what a waste of those glorious views and beautiful Hinchinbrook, the owners should be ashamed. So we walked out and thought we'd try the "crab place" afterall. So glad we did, it was great. It's a deli cafe, not a fine dining restaurant so we were not expecting that. I had the small crab sandwich, you can choose size and type of bread or a bun, I had the smallest wholemeal sandwich. It was very filling and plenty fresh crab and crunchy lettuce. Delicious 😋. My partner had the barramundi, calamari and potato scallops. Came with loads of lemon. We hate overcooked fish and this was juicy and cooked well. I also had a crab claw, soft and crunchy, yum. We would definitely return.
