Good Morning Coffee Trader — Restaurant in Queensland

Today I ordered a coffee and bacon and egg roll at Coffee Trader Garbutt but I witnessed a most unfortunate event. As it was early, about 6.40 am, I was waiting in the bay adjacent to where the coffee is made. There was one car behind me and no one else there. There were two large dogs playing with a male person just ahead of my car. The male was wearing a Good Morning Coffee shirt. He wasn’t just patting the dogs, he was all over them, hugging and squeezing them affectionately. Then the Asian lady who walks to the cars with their orders yelled out “Hassan, food”. The guy who had been playing with those dogs was the chef!!

I don’t know whether he washed his hands before he made my roll because the food preparation area is out of view, but he didn’t take long so I’m assuming the worst.

Went and got a table, shuffled the chair a little to my left, chair snapped and broke 🫠 A staff member came over and was extremely helpful and lovely about the situation and moved us to another table. I was concerned about the broken chair still sitting in the same place for someone else to sit on and I mentioned this to a gentlemen working there to which he looked at me and nodded and did nothing about it. Once our meals came out 15-20mins later I mentioned this to the waitress and she quickly removed it off the floor. Food was lovely but a lot of hollandaise sauce. Despite the chair nearly breaking my back we will probably return but sit on different chairs 👀

This is really sad, because GMCT used to be a favourite breakfast spot for me. 2-3 year ago, GMCT was at its peak, but it has been slowly declining since then to a point now where I wouldn't visit again. The food is a rip-off for what you get. Ordered a bacon and egg wrap, only to receive a cold tortilla with 2 pieces of eye bacon that were cooked for so little, that they seemed like they could have been microwaved.
