We sat down to have a coffee and a hot chocolate today. My friend went around to order. When he came back he advised me I needed to go to the counter to QR check-in. We did wonder why there weren't more check-in points other than at the counter. But off I went to check-in, as I was checking in a strangely hyper staff member said check-in now for vaccination status. I was already aiming my phone at the code. She was working but insisting on seeing the result in a once again strangely hyper and unprofessional manner. Drinks arrived with a rather nervous young Asian waitress whom just plopped the drinks down in front of me with one of the spoons sliding onto the table. She raced off with the spoon and returned with another spoon which really wasn't necessary but we thanked her each time. I had a marshmallow with my HC. My friend noticed that other coffee's coming out had a little cookie with them, his coffee didn't have one. Another waitress walked past so I 'Tongue in cheek said excuse me, he didn't get a cookie with his coffee' and we all did a little chuckle, but she didn't return with one. Then we asked the Asian waitress if he could have his cookie please because it didn't come with one. Moments later the crazy unusually hyper girl that was ordering 'rudely' QR code check-in's appears asking if there was a problem. We just said we didn't get a cookie. She snapped hot chocolate gets a marshmallow, only coffee gets a cookie. Ok no problem, but he didn't get one. She said in a kind of childish schoolyard manor" yes he did get one", we said " I'm sorry but he didn't". Then in a hyper rude schoolyard tone she replied " well we haven't got any left". I asked why she being so rude too us and my friend asked why are you being so nasty and she went right off saying for us to stop yelling(which we weren't) and to leave the shop or she'll get security. HUH...there's something very wrong here with this oddly, hyper, rude and abusive staff member. I actually have a feeling thinking back that all the other staff are on edge because of her. Also thinking back maybe the Asian waitress accidently knocked the cookie off of the saucer when she knocked the spoon off the saucer right at the start. Whatever happened there was no need for this oddly hyper staff member to act like this. As we were leaving she seemed to be erratically spraying and wiping tables then rushing back to the coffee machine. She was hyper and all over the place. Weird. Drinks were delicious. We have just moved to Cairns but I'm afraid we'll never go to this café again due to what was a tongue in cheek comment to a waitress childishly calling us liars and aggressively attacking us. Really...
Read moreIf i could give this place a zero i would. I have been getting coffee there almost everyday for a few weeks now but i will not again nor will i recommend it to my colleagues or customers anymore after this experience. In fact i will tell them not to go there if they ask as the manager is disrespectful and just plain rude. I work in customer service and i have never spoken to anyone the way the so call "manager" spoke to me today. Usually they give biscuits with the coffee but for a few days now they haven't been adding it to my orders (i order for multiple people) and i hadnt said anything because i thought, its ok, they are busy , they probably just forgot and i understand but i asked today if it was possible to grab biscuits with my coffee order but the response i got was shocking. The so called "manager" told me to "lose the attitude" even though i had ask politely and nicely. It was enough to make me go back and question her after i had left and delivered the coffee's on why she told me to "lose the attitude" when i had just asked her nicely then she informs me she is the manager and i could not believe it. Her attitude absolutely stinks and her customer service is appalling. I've read a few reviews and it seems im not the only one who is dealing with this disgusting behaviour. No wonder the place is going down hill. Dont even go there, its absolutely not worth it. She should not be a manager, its disgusting and i couldnt imagine what it would be like to work for her. She is just awful and super disrespectful. I will not be recommending it anymore to anyone nor will i ever return again. Maybe when the staff there have a better example for how customer service should be and a better manager who is competent at the job and who's attitude and customer service doesn't stink. The biscuits should already be with the coffee! I shouldn't have to ask. How disrespectful and disgusting. So disappointing... the whole experience was just awful. Not worth...
Read moreWe visited Jamaica Blue with my mature father today who is hard of hearing and likes to insure that he checks in where ever he goes.
On queuing while waiting to be served there were a few people in front of us but we didn't wait a long time.
While still trying to check in, we were encouraged to approach the counter to place our order but had been unable to see what was in the cabinet due to the queue, so while I helped my father decide what he might like my partner ordered the coffees after being pressured by the lady serving to do so. She put the sale through without even waiting for us to order our food and I had to ask her just to wait a moment while we worked out what me might like to eat. She was very short with us and I got the impression that we were causing her some kind of angst. When bringing our coffees and cake and taking away our spent dishes she was professional to a fault and made us all feel uncomfortable.
I really didn't appreciate her attitude and I couldn't understand why it was necessary for her to serve us in this manner as there was no one waiting behind us.
It really is a shame, we are from out of town and when ever in town choose Jamaica Blue as our coffee spot. I am a caterer myself and understand the need for efficient service, however I must say, you must read your customers and the situation. If being efficient causes you to be rude there is no point in serving good coffee as you still end up with a sour taste in your mouth. A little bit of patience...
