Mummas Fish 'N' Chips — Restaurant in Queensland

For the first time, I had a terrible good customer service experience at this takeaway. First I called to place a takeaway order, phone wasn't answered, went to voicemail. Gone to the shop to place an order and asked if the phone was working. Was told they don't answer the phone when it is busy (the phone message didn't state this and nothing on FB page advises this). I asked how long the wait was and was told 30 minutes for fish and chips!. I left and while leaving was lectured how I didn't appreciate how busy they are. That's not my problem because I'm the customer, not the owner. The high quality customer service response would be to say "sorry for the inconvience, please come again". Gone to a competitors and had my fish and chips in 10 minutes. Not answering the phone and passive agressive behaviour by staff is not the way to earn a repeat customer so I will not be returning.

Responding to your response below-“customers that actually came into the store to answer the phone which we always take preference over” HOW ARE CUSTOMERS SUPPOSE TO KNOW THIS? As I stated, this is the first time this has happened to me so I didn’t know. There is no message on the answering system which states this. I’m not a mind reader. BTW no other takeaway or restaurant in Rockhampton refuses to answer the phone to take orders. “If you only waited ten minutes for your food on a Friday night go somewhere else” This statement proves you don’t understand basic customer courtesy. “put your hand up in my face to shut me up” This is incorrect. I was not near your face. I waived goodbye and left. “you are always rude to our staff every time that you come into our store” I haven’t been to your takeaway in over a month. How do you know me? “We would be happy if you never come back again we don’t need rude customers like you” Another rude statement that shows you don’t understand basic customer service. Don’t worry, I won’t and I will make sure to tell all my friends about this. “At the end of the day Tony and I can only cook so much food and the staff can only serve so many people”. Of course I understand this but this is no excuse for poor customer service. “witnessed your outburst were stunned with your behaviour” There was no outburst. All I did was ask your staff why the phone wasn’t answered (there may have been a technical problem) and how long it would take to get an order. So asking questions is an outburst? “I said to you last Friday thank you for appreciating how busy we are.” The way you said it was sarcastic and rude. You came rushing up to the counter after I spoke with staff being hostile towards me. The simple, customer focused answer from you and your staff would have been “sorry, it will take a half an hour. Would you like to come back later?” Blunt, rude, sarcastic responses to customers is not appropriate. It doesn’t matter if you have the only Fish and Chips shop in a 100km and the wait is long, customer focus means the customer comes first, not your feeling...

I haven't had anything worthwhile reviewing in a long time. Unfortunately for us we live on the wrong side of town to easily access this shop, but Dam it is worth the drive.

Best fish and chips i have ever eaten.

We spent some time watching the food being cooked. I have never seen a fish and chip shop use a digital food thermometer to confirm the food is cooked correctly. Hats off to the owners running the kitchen, they are going above and beyond to deliver quality food which represents value for money!

Wife's response. Best fish I've ever had and the chips are still crunchy after a 20 min drive.

Kids chicken nuggets, the kids said they taste better than McDonald's. (Dah!) My kids are extremely fussy eaters, this comment from them alone is enough to make them a regular. Based on their response i had to try them and honestly the best nuggets i have ever tasted!

Support this shop, hopefully they will expand their outdoor dining, they certainly have the space.

WOW .. the best fish and chips ever, I mean ever. Coming from the West Coast of Australia we have some magnificent fish but the best of it gets exported. The sea scallops where amazing, cooked to perfection, the fish was moist and the best tasting ever. Also purchased cooked prawns .. once again .. Magnificent. As we are grey nomads wandering around this beautiful country of ours we have tried many fish shops only to be disappointed .. Our belief in fish shops has now been restored. Keep up the great work. Will definitely be back before we move on from...
