Central Park Motel — Hotel in Allenstown

We booked this hotel as my Mother had previously stayed there many, many times when in the area for work. On her recommendation we booked our accommodation, it was a great location as we were attending Radiance at the Botanic Gardens and heading out for dinner at the Leagues Club. Upon check in we collected some milk for our morning coffee and went to the room and found there was food left in the fridge from the previous guests however the rest room was lovely and clean. So happy to forgive the food as an oversight. Around 11pm we lost all power to the air conditioning and power points but still had lights. After numerous unanswered calls to the after hours mobile number and reception number I went looking for anyone that may be around when I came across a lovely lady sitting outside. Turns out she was the owner but I didn’t know that until the following day. She offered help and a short time later the maintenance man came out. Well he was very unhappy, bum crack out, no shirt and no manners. He was able to restore power for the air conditioner but advised that he was unable to do anything further as the rooms next to us are connected and he don’t want to disturb them to fix the problem, they must have something plugged in that shouldn’t be he said. He and the lady advised that there wasn’t much else they could do as they were fully booked. As it was late, I was happy the air conditioner was working and didn’t have anything important in the fridge so told him that was fine. At 4am the air conditioner went off again and did not come back on, as it was so early and no one was answering the after hours number we pushed through. Upon check out at 7:30am the ladies at the counter were very apologetic and I asked for a refund or partial refund as it was an awful night and we did not get what we paid for. They advised the manager was away and would call me back the next business day. I called the following business day to speak with Susan, the manager who showed no care at all. She was quite rude with zero customer service and advised that no other guests had issues and the cleaners had power when they went in so she is not sure what the problem is. As they are fully booked it seems the only one with the problem was me. She offered no apology or empathy about our experience. Unfortunately we will never recommend this accommodation again to family or friends who frequently visit the area based on the horrible customer service of the manager. I understand things happen but how you deal with it says a lot the business. Whilst it was clean, there is zero excuses for rudeness or the way they handled this situation, so unfortunate as this could have been easily overlooked had they shown compassion and understanding instead Susan chose a lack of customer service...

Stayed overnight. It was good of them to allow me to check in early and check out late...the room itself is old with obvious marks that they need to fix here and there. Location was excellent. However, it was disappointing to see blood spots on the doona cover (I know that motels don't clean doona cover every time a customer checks out) and they put a wrong size sheet on so my feet were on the mattress cover. Unhygienic for me and for the next customers. Raised it with the motel and all I got was "sorry about that" and was blazzay about it.. instead of saying something like "thank you for letting me know. I will speak to the cleaner team and will ensure that this won't happen again." Now the question is will I stay again? If I have to I will but I would rather pay extra and go somewhere else where they put actual correct sheet on...

We have stayed in a few motels in Rocky in our travels. Most have been nice or ok, but some prices have been a bit high. Decided to give this Motel a try, price was more in our range and it looked nice. What we got was exceptional. Beautifully set up, clean, ground floor room with lots of space and a Queen and single bed. Good sized round separate table and chairs, hanging space and bedside drawers for clothes, and a sink near toaster and kettle with plenty of bench space. A real bonus. These rooms are very nicely set up, microwave, dishes cutlery, cups etc. Full marks to owners for the extras that make all the difference. Across from a park, so nice and quiet and the shower and bathroom also lots of room. 4.5 stars really, very nice stop over thank you. On my diary as the place to stay in...
