I took my 10 year old brother out for lunch as part of a day out together, whilst he (and the entire family) is visiting Australia all the way from the Netherlands. The following review were his comments during our lunch.
"This restaurant must have a lot of stars (or hats, as per Australia), because it's great. The people are so friendly here! (Big shout out to the gentleman who took our orders and served us, sorry I didn't catch your name!) We get to choose where to sit, many luxury restaurants don't allow that, so it's really special here. They even have a big kidszone, you don't see that often either, it's really good here. Wow, the food came so quickly! We didn't even finish our starter. This is the best steak ever. It's really beautiful inside here. And the people are real nice. I'm sure it has many stars here! You just dont have this in the Netherlands."
Little man had the Steak Sanga and was raving about it. We shared some salt and pepper calamari, which he also raved about. My fish tacos were also pretty good and he wouldn't stop talking about the free soft serve with syrup and sprinkles the entire way home!
In short, wonderful kid-friendly environment with awesome staff who where patient, engaging and had a sense of humour playing along with a young and impressed foodie. More than good pub food for fair prices, especially the...
Read moreI thought for such a busy place the food must be pretty good sadly I was wrong. Look the customer service was great and we didn't have to wait for too long considering the large amount of people in there. That's why they get 3 stars. The food though sadly disappointed. Got the new Yorker chicken schnitty chips and salad. Good size meal, too much gluggy coating on the chicken and the bacon tasted funny. I couldn't put my finger on what was wrong but it was just strange. Half a table spoon of avocado and same of holindaise sauce(skimping on me). It was like it was slapped together with no love or thought. You can tell they pre make their side salads as mine was wilted and soggy. I wish they would put a bit more care into the food and then they would have me back. At this stage I wouldn't recommend getting the new York schnitty (my fav) . I don't think I'll be heading back out there again. Oh and my daughter had the kids pizza ... it was the frozen one with no toppings. She took two bikes and said mommy this is gross. So she ate my dinner. Red Baret please pick...
Read moreNot a bad pub in general, the customer service is great and the employees work hard, but after having 4 poor quality steaks in a row it pains me to say there is a problem that needs to be sorted out. If you are charging customers $36-$45 for a pub steak meal it should be both a tender quality cut and well cooked with a decent salad. I can confirm with tonight’s $39 rump that it was like a $12 steak meal. So much gristle and fat that about only 200grams of the 400 gram steak was edible and it was tough and chewy. The salad was no good, the chips were ok and the Diane sauce was good. I’m not a chef but I’ve cooked up a $14 Woolworths steak that would destroy these $40 steaks. I understand this pub gets very busy and serves a huge number of patrons but that only confirms, along with the pokies revenue that the pub must be making plenty of profit. I’ll also add that the loyalty card is not rewarding loyalty, for a $9 beer you have to buy 900 beers before you have enough credit for a free $9 beer.
Cool old pub but prices are not matching...
