This was honestly one of the more unusual dining experiences I’ve had, but I’ll stick to the facts and let you be the judge. We came here for lunch when it was quiet. A man (who looked like the owner) dressed in traditional clothes and barefoot gave us two menus each. At first, we thought he’d given us duplicates, since they looked identical and weren’t labelled. Turns out one was for food and one for drinks, the only way to tell was that the food one was slightly thicker. When we said aloud that we hadn’t realised, he quickly replied, “That’s why I gave you two each.” Not exactly rude, but it felt a bit dismissive. Almost immediately after, the waiter came over and asked if we wanted drinks, even though we’d barely opened the menu. We said we needed a moment. A minute later he came back again. We ended up just asking for table water, to which he responded, “Oh, just tap water then…” in a tone that came off a bit dismissive. He then pointed out a service light on the table that we could tap if we needed anything, though oddly enough, he still returned very quickly without us tapping. The food itself came out promptly and was good for the price. However, the same waiter consistently set dishes down on just one side of the table, even when they clearly belonged on the other side, and at one point expected my young son to pass them across. It struck me as unusual, and I eventually suspected that he might be on the spectrum. I don’t say this disrespectfully - it’s worth mentioning so that future diners don’t misinterpret his manner as intentionally rude. Overall the food was reasonably good but the service style was… unconventional. It didn’t ruin the meal, but it’s something to be aware of if you’re considering...
Read moreI recently ordered a meal for myself on DoorDash. I was so happy with it! First time in ages I have gotten a meal and thought it was actually worth the price. Food these days has been getting poorer in quality (from what I can only assume is because everyone is trying to cut cost in this economy) so I often go in with low expectations after being so disappointed frequently lately.
I was so happy with my cocospork I told my partner about it. We ordered food from their tonight and it was just as good as the first time. We tried the bbq pork. The flavours are authentic and very well balanced. I tried things I’d never come accross before and wasn’t sure what they were, but was super happy with the experience of trying new foods and then be so delicious. Will definitely come back to try more.
My only criticism is that the picketed carrot and cucumber and side salad were missing. I also thought $6 for a soft drink was quite unreasonable. But these are only mild issues and not enough to spur my image...
Read moreWe were really looking forward to trying this restaurant on our recent holiday to cairns. Unfortunately we never got the chance. Despite making an online booking and paying a $10 per person booking fee(???) the maître de informed us that he did not have our booking and couldn’t seat us even tho the restaurant was only roughly 1/3 full? When questioned about their booking system no one seemed to know what was going on. They did offer to seat us after informing us that it would be a minimum of 45 mins for first course. We gave up at this point, it is still unclear if we’ve been refunded the booking fee or not, walked around the block to find somewhere to have dinner and 5 mins later they had their closed sign up.. Not good enough. can’t recommend this one unfortunately.. there are much better places just around the corner (we found out...
