Dined here on a friend’s recommendation last Saturday night, who said it offered BYO (I may stand corrected but I believe it’s around $12 per person). What I really liked was the service, which was very warm, efficient, and friendly. The playlist (spanning largely 60s and 70s tunes) was great, too.
The dining rooms were almost full when we arrived, which shows it’s a popular place. My guess is many of the guests were locals.
For me, the food was good, generous serving sizes, but not as well executed as some other places I dined at while visiting the Sunshine Coast (Sails, Bask). Two of my dining companions really liked their dishes (fish served on snow peas and a half a duck). Mine was strange and I should have known better: shredded lamb (delicious), but with pasta (maybe rigatoni) and a creamy, cheesy sauce. The two others were indifferent.
Debriefing after dinner with two of my dining companions, we agreed the dining room looks a bit tired and could do with a refresh and as much as we liked the service, we are unlikely to return on a future...
Read moreHad a superb time here for dinner on a Saturday night. The entire experience was great. For food, had the Sourdough with Roasted Brie and Peppered Honey for starters which was an interesting flavour combination with the honey, but tasty nonetheless. It would have been much better with a few more pieces of bread, as the amount of Brie given would be enjoyed better if so.
The entree we tried was the Five Spice Crispy Duck Leg with pancakes. This was a great take on Peking duck rolls. The meat fell away at the bone and was very easy to peel away using a fork. It was fun to roll your own and use hands to enjoy this dish.
For mains we had the Roast Lamb Rump and Charred Black Eye Angus Fillet. The lamb itself was quite nice, but the presentation could’ve been a bit more pleasant. Angus fillet was fantastic though, cooked at a perfect medium rare.
The staff were very friendly and had a theme of older distinguished gentlemen who made us feel welcomed and at home while having a smart casual vibe. Great...
Read moreMy partner and I came here for our anniversary, were really enjoying ourselves, appetisers were good, My main which was the salmon and gnocchi was really nice, actually enjoyed it quite alot, perfect salmon. My partner unfortunately didn't enjoy hers, she got the Sri Lankan chicken curry, which had absolutely no flavour (it just needed to be seasoned!!) We very, very politely spoke to the waiter who then spoke to the chef. This is where our experience went down hill. God forbid if you don't like the food because you will be dealt with a passive aggressive waiter, an arrogant chef who can't take even the kindest part of criticism, not only that, My partner wasn't offered anything else to eat, wasnt even asked if she was finished with her meal, plate just taken and the audacity to hand a dessert menu afterward, as a chef myself, this isn't how you deal with complaints. Especially those who are being so polite with them. 40 dollars for a curry that wasn't up to standard, get real. Season your...
