The Food Shop — Restaurant in Queensland

The food is legit delicious. Highly recommend the roast duck and the dry chilli beef (a bit of a misnomer because it's not actually spicy but is wonderfully crispy and slightly sweet. Reminds me of rainbow beef at some restaurants). The portion size isn't the biggest. The atmosphere is a fusion between a grocery store and a takeaway shop, with only a few tables and not much attempt at ambience/decor. The place looks very clean though. We were the only ones dining in on a Friday night. We were a bit disappointed that there is no table water, we have to buy a bottled one from the fridge. I don't think I've ever encountered that before in Australia! Perhaps a few bottles of self serve water with some glasses would be nice. These small things makes me give it 4 stars instead of 5. After scoping out some local Chinese take away on Google, and double-checking reviews on South-side of Rockhampton. I arrived to a establishment close to the CBD that I was immediately turned off from.

After another hasty search online I found "The food shop". And was not disappointed.!

After a 7 minute drive into residential Berserker, I found this little gem of a restaurant. After walking in I was immediately put as ease with the clean looks, and Asian groceries on shelves. It just felt right. I ordered the family pack B and took it back to my motel to dine. Well... I would have to say this was the most delicious Chinese take away I have eaten in over a decade! Being such a small shop in a weird location we were a little sceptical but we ordered the half duck, dry chilli chicken, beef curry, and fried rice....... SOOOO GOOD! Food is honestly some of the best asian food I have eaten in this town and will 150% be going back. Whilst inside the store we were also browsing items sold there and is impressive how you have the option to purchase some asian ingredients to be able to cook with and drink options are minimal but some of the drinks are amazing.
