Townsville RSL Club — Restaurant in Queensland

Pretty disappointing. As a visitor to Townsville I would not recommend. We chose an RSL specifically for a roast meal. Asked for a roast of the day with chips and vegetables for my friend and a pizza for myself. We didn't complain when chips and salad came out because we feel uncomfortable complaining about food. We get roast meals out quite often and this one was very disappointing. While eating I get my notification from the bank and I notice I am charged more than I expected. It's just a few $$$ per meal but get the menu to double check. Now I know clubs usually offer members discounts but this menu was just priced for members and apparently visitors are just charged more. No price for visitors and one for members like most normal clubs. I feel like visitors are not welcome. My pizza was huge. It should have been advertised as for two. Way too much for one person so I asked for a takeaway box which pretty much everyone who orders would need. I was handed 2 plastic containers and left to man handle half a pizza into them with my hands. The same guy who took my order bought the containers out so I mentioned the salad and he apologized and said he was unsure why it came out wrong but asked if I wanted to speak to a manager. After being on the road for several weeks ,we looked forward to a nice meal at the new Townsville RSL . We went to "laverac" resturant and was thrilled at both the food quality and the service by the young waitresses, ten out of ten . Last night we went back to the RSL and unfortunately the Laveracs was having a private function so decided to eat downstairs at the bistro . The lady who takes the orders was overwhelmed by the amount of customers and the service was extremely slow, the food was very ordinary , my cutlets were overcooked and dark chocolate brown ,and my wife's pork was so tough she almost needed a steak knife to cut the meat . I know it's not 5 starr but the presentation of the food looked like it had been just thrown on the plate, why ,no matter how menial the task , why don't people take a little pride in there job . . We certainly wont be back to the bistro , maybe management should have dinner there one evening and check it out ,if they find it acceptable, they should raise their standards . . Just moved to the area a month ago and signed up straight away! Great place to go for a few drinks and socialise with friends! Been there more then a few times and have always had great customer service with a smile! Could do with some extra staff for pokie service on Friday nights escpecially with the members draw bringing in big crowds! Iam NOT a fan of people using RESERVED signs on pokie machines for multiple EGMS for an extensive period of time and only playing one. From experience a person should only play ONE machine and reserve ONE other machine NOT three or four! This is actually loosing you turnover on those machines especially the lighting jackpot ones which I always see people wanting to play but not being able to due to these RESERVED SIGNS! This should be monitored more efficiently by your gaming staff and the time limits enforced correctly! Apart from that disappointment, all round great club and great members rewards/discounts!
