The old Mud Hut Hotel was a grand old pub. Unfortunately, that burnt down and has been replaced with another soulless drinking room. No atmosphere, no history.

I ordered a pizza for dinner. It came clearly burnt on the top and even worse underneath. Despite the cook and waitstaff obviously thinking that it was OK to serve (or otherwise it wouldn't have made it to my table), I thought it was inedible. Luckily, the owner or manager was having dinner right behind me and realised something was wrong. He agreed it was burnt and offered a replacement. After what was over half an hour, the replacement came out. Luckily, not burnt this time. However, I have what I thought was a reasonable expectation that pizzas are served hot. This was not, to point its moist doughy centre was cold. No staff asked me if it was better until they realised I wasn't eating it. The owner or manager came back over. I told him that it was like a frozen pizza that had not been cooked properly. He admitted to me it was a frozen pizza. A frozen pizza for $25????? I didn't bother with a third.

To top off my Mud Hut Experience, I went to the toilet, and as I was returning to my table was harassed by clearly drunk indigenous locals in front of barstaff. The barstaff took no action. Maybe the staff hadn't seen the BOBB poster in the bathroom. Or maybe I guess they'll be drunk again, spending money buying drinks tomorrow, and many days after that, and I, I won't be...

I stayed here on 17/09/2024 with work colleagues & we ordered our evening meals no later than 7:00pm. There weren’t too many patrons and people who ordered their meals after us were receiving their meals before us. Around 7:40pm my colleague questioned staff & asked when our meals would be served and a short time later he was told “…they’re nearly ready…”. I received my meal a short time later and my colleague received between 7:45pm & 7:50pm. My meal (crumbed fish, chips, & salad) wasn’t too good in that the crumbed fish appeared to have been in the deep fryer too long and the (Greek?) salad was smothered in a white coloured dressing. The staff were very friendly & welcoming. My stay was marred...

What a find! A cool retreat with friendly staff behind the bar, plenty of tables in the bar area to enjoy the game and a comfortable bistro. Great meals at very reasonable prices. Good reason to make Richmond a stopover for lunch or stay for a few days, enjoy a leisurely dinner, making sure you take in the remarkable Kronosaurus Korner and enjoy a walk around the lake (excellent water park for the kids, good playground) and catch your dinner with BBQs well placed to...

Easily the best pub in Richmond, Queensland. Friendly, helpful and welcoming staff, great food and good country atmosphere. We were from out of town and appreciated the manager advice and enjoyed our night there. Nice pool tables and happy hour from 4.30pm till 5.30, where schooners go from $6 to $4. Popular with the local and out of town people as they offer good accommodation with nice rooms. Don't miss this pub when in Richmond, central Queensland.

After weeks on the road the food at this hotel was a most welcome surprise. The chef, Paul, was outstanding. The chicken mignon wrapped in bacon and stuffed with spinach and brie was amazing. In terms of Michelin stars this would be a three as I would certainly travel a great distance to dine here again.
