Dined here on Wednesday 16/7/25. Very cold night but nice and warm inside. Upon entry the entry area was very crowded with multiple people waiting for tables (all seemed to have bookings). There was a little wait to be seen and then seated. Staff were friendly and attentive though. The restaurant was pretty full. We have been here before a couple of times with both large and small groups - food has always been great. This particular night we came to try the Beef Wellington.
The service: Very good. Staff ensured everyone was comfortable and orders were taken in a professional and friendly manner. Food came out in good time and plates cleared pretty quickly as well.
Ambience: Dim/warm lighting. Tables fairly close together. It does get a bit loud when the restuarant is full. Great view from the back of the restarant (especially in the warmer months with the beautiful skycapes we get).
Food/drinks: Drinks are reasonably priced and there is a good selection. Nice coffee. Food was really tasty. Produce was fresh and of good quality.
Entree: Cheesy garlic bread was decadent and delicious. Great start to a cold night! The char on the bread with the soft bread and gooey cheese was the bomb! Mains: Generous slice of Beef Wellington. Fillet in the Wellington was on the medium/well done side but so tender and tasty. Pastry was not crisp, but still tasted good. Red cabbage was beautifully balanced, not acidic or overpowering. The dumplings reminded me of Omas knodels - they held together so well and had a soft, tender texture but not bready. They paired beautifully with the other elements on the plate. There was the perfect amount of jus - we mopped up what was left on the plate with the last pieces of dumpling! The broccolini was also cooked well. Desserts: Bavarian Apple donuts probably would not order again. The outer texture of the donuts looked a little different to what we saw pictured and they were very crumbly. Not sure the lemon garnish fit either. The Lime Panna Cotta was okay, not as descibed on the menu which was a bit disappointing. I was looking forward to the pistachio crumble and mango sorbet. The dish was presented with walnuts instead and a different sorbet - apple? Completely changed the dish. The local honeycomb was so good - paired well with the walnuts but would have loved that pistachio crumble as on the menu. The young guy the came from behind the bar to open the door for us after payment was a really nice touch.
All in all - lovely service, a really enjoyable meal of flavourful, quality food. That considered, the overall price for the meals and drinks we thought was good value.
Sidenote: the other food coming out looked delicious. The seafood platter looked amazing if that's you kind of food.
Definitely would go back again to try some of the other mains we have not yet...
Read moreThis restaurant is advertised as a fine dining experience, with a gold award winning chef Seb Sindermann however our experience was memorable for the wrong reasons. We arrived at 7.30pm and we left waiting for about 10 minutes, until a staff member addressed us and confirmed our booking. Then we were told that despite having pre booked, we would need to wait while a table was set up for us. This was surprising, as the restaurant while busy, as not full and there were plenty of spare tables. Once seated, the wait staff were friendly, professional and attentive, and we placed our orders for drinks and food. The atmosphere of the restaurant as a 'fine dining' experience left alot to be desired. The noise level of the restaurant was uncomfortable, and the ambience of the room was more of a pub, than a restaurant. The entrees including Murray River Cod Sashimi and Oven Baked Lamb Lion Chops w/Saffron and Sun Dried Tomato Arancini were devine and left us wanting more. The mains including Oven Baked Chicken Breast W/ couscous Risotto & Choritzo & Tomato Consomme' was moist, but the risotto was omitted. The second main, Port Glazed Sticky Beef Cheeks W/ Creamed Leek, Potato Puree & Braised Broccolini, was at best a good pub quality meal. We ordered another round of drinks at 9.15pm, including cocktails, after 25 minutes, when the drinks had not arrived, I went to the bar to see what was the holdup. The barman had our orderslip in front of him, but he had not even commenced making the drinks. He had been talking to waitstaff for the entire 25 minutes, without tending to any drinks. There were only two other tables in the restaurant that still had patrons remaining, eating deserts etc, so the restaurant was far from busy preventing the barman from filling our order. I was so angry at his cavalry attitude, that he was told not to bother with filling the drinks order as we were leaving. We did not order deserts, we were that disgusted. After seeing other reviews for this restaurant, this is not an isolated case, with other patrons reportedly waiting up to 45 minutes for drinks! Given we paid over $100 per head for each person at our table, we expected a fine dining experience. Seb is without doubt a talented chef, but unfortunately the tacky pub atmosphere, the poor drinks service and the lack luster mains, did not do him justice. His talents are wasted here if they do not lift their game. We shall not...
Read moreWe made our booking 2 weeks before the Anzac long weekend and were very happy that we got a reservation. Tonight's dinner here was timely, one, Seven Sins being one of the restaurants I had been meaning to try and two, it is our wedding anniversary. Last night, an angry customer blasted Seven Sins on social media and I happened to read it. In all honesty, it does the restaurant no justice and probably just portrayed a one-sided view from that individual. We arrived tonight at 6.45pm (our booking was for 7pm) and were quickly seated. We were given a few choices of seating areas. We were also served within minutes of being seated. Afterwhich, our wait staff came to take our orders within a span of 10-15 minutes of us looking through the menu. Entries were served in the next 5 minutes and mains were served 10 minutes later. The restaurant was packed when we arrived and still packed when we left. What I found was, the food was yummy, came out quickly, served warm. The hospitality crew were attentive and looked happy, and overall, there was a positive vibe in the restaurant. One of the wait staff accidentally toppled a tall glass of lemon-lime bitters onto a patron seated at the table next to ours (a very large group) and the group laughed it off instead of getting angry at the waitress (which was nice of them). But what I saw next was great teamwork. About 3-4 staff came out quickly to help their colleague who was probably new to the job, very nervous and scared by her accident. They quickly cleaned up the mess and everything went on smoothly after. There was a birthday cake served to one of the patrons at that table and the wait staff rallied everyone in the restaurant, singing happy birthday to her. From where we were seated, we could see great dynamics in the kitchen to the service crew and plates of food kept coming out like clockwork. In between seatings, wait staff were wiping down tables and disinfecting everything. Now, the food came in generous serves. We had the arancini balls with pureed hummus underneath and for mains, we got the cripsy pork knuckle with sauerkraut + mash and lime-chilli prawns with soba noodles. It was yummy! The desserts were just as good, coconut pannacotta with mango sorbet and caramel slice with banana gelato. All in all, a very lovely evening and would highly recommend Seven Sins to family...
