Disappointing Experience atThe Cottage!
I recently visited The Cottage, with high hopes for a pleasant dining experience, but unfortunately, my expectations were shattered by the subpar treatment and lackluster service.
Upon arrival, my partner and I were promptly escorted to what seemed like the bunker room in the establishment, (right next door to the main dining hall ) tucked away in a dimly lit corner with poor ambiance and wall views. This less-than-ideal seating arrangement immediately set a negative tone for the evening and made it difficult for us to fully enjoy our meal.
To make matters worse, we were informed that we had no choice but to opt for the 2 set course dinner, a requirement that was not disclosed anywhere on the menu or during the booking process. This rigid and inflexible policy felt like a blatant attempt to upsell us and left a sour taste in our mouths, both literally and figuratively.
Overall, our experience at The Cottage was marred by poor seating, undisclosed dining requirements, and lackluster service. I would caution future patrons to approach this establishment with caution, as the quality of the dining experience does not align with the prices charged. Save your time and money and seek out a more accommodating and customer-focused dining...
Read moreTL;DR If money was no object The Cottage would be a 5/5 place, but the reality is that they are charging $40 for an entree-sized main meal
Full review The food here is absolutely beautiful. Perhaps one of the most delicious meals I've had ever. BUT that's probably the only redeeming quality (though admittedly it is a good one). There is an air of elitism that pervades the restaurant, the chairs here are simply not suitable for a restaurant, the plate the meal was served on was unsuitable for that kind of dish, and they would rather constantly flitter about holding a jug of water than let you keep it on your table. However, none of this compares to the actual deal-breaker: the portion sizes and how much they charge for them. I expected this place to be expensive, but they took it way too far. The main meal was $40 for two handfuls of food: the size of an entree. It was almost insulting. Then at the end of it all they overcharged us by over $20.
If you are not the one paying, I recommend checking out The Cottage. If you do have to pay for yourself, I recommend you find...
Read moreOn first thoughts prices seemed fairly inflated for what was offered. We decided to go for the skirt steak as it seemed more of a reasonable price. While we were waiting we were asked if we wanted bread before our meal as it would take a long time. We obliged. When the bread came out it was burnt and the butter was as if it was kept in the freezer. Which was not spreadable , we had to melt it over a candle. Steak came out let’s just say it must have had a spot next to the butter in the freezer it was that cold. Chewing gum would have been easier to digest than the steak. When it came time to pay the bill we expected the bread to be complimentary however we were charged $16 for 2 pieces of burnt bread with frozen butter. Two mains and bread almost $100 . The only positive about this experience was the lovely waitresses. They were attentive to filling up our water and extremely friendly and bubbly and kind. Atmosphere was lovely and it’s a beautifully quaint little cottage. Very disappointed with the food for how much it cost. All in all a cheap $20 pub steak would...
