I don’t normally post negative reviews but after our experience I feel the owners need to have a look at things to improve on. I booked my 60th Birthday last December for 2 but a few days after my booking I changed it to 4 which was confirmed by Maeghan. I paid $299 per head for the 4 of us in two transactions. Name: Peter Grasinger Date: Friday, October 25, 2024 Venue: FINO at Seppeltsfield Service: Fino and Seppeltsfield Signature Experience Time: 11:30 AM - 2:30 PM Number of Guests: 4 Upon arrival I was asked I I had a booking Yes my name is Peter Grasinger. I no was greeted with a welcome and your booking was for 2 people. I said no it’s for 4. They said it’s only for two but we can make it 4. I said I paid for 4!!! We then were taken to start our cellar tour by Jordon who also said so it’s two for the tour. I said no it’s for 4….. that was the second time the numbers were being questioned so I was getting a bit miffed. The tour was great all 4 of us enjoyed it. For the record it was our second tour. Upon the end of the tour we were shown to Fino and seated. The 4 of us were seated in the terrace and I was asked if the other two guests would be having the paired wines too. I said yes we paid for that!!!! No sure how this communication failed so miserably. We paid $1196 in total. As far as the food experience went a few dishes were great but 3 were totally shocking. I the carrots with honey and chick peas were extremely underwhelming to be kind. 2/3 was sent back uneaten. But the pork dish was badly cooked extremely chewy and unpleasant. 3/4 was sent back uneaten. Finally the steak dish arrived, it looked fantastic but was tough, chewy and unpleasant. All of us commented on how bad it was. This dish too was 3/4 sent back uneaten. The matched wines were not as great either. Worst degustation we have ever experienced. I’m sorry but we will never be back and can only hope this review finds it to the owners so that they can address the issues we faced. At the time of writing this review we today experienced the best day at d’Arenberg. The best degustation with matched wines was hands down the best we have ever had. I even mentioned our experience to the waitress who was surprised to hear about our Fino experience and said that Sharon would be disappointed to hear that. Anyway hope this helps...
Read moreYesterday I took my mum out on her birthday, along with my younger sister, to visit a couple of cellar doors. Had a nice time wine tasting and, as I was planning to take them to Vasse Virgin (a lovely place), to look at Olive oil, essential oils, art, etc, I decided to visit Fino restaurant for coffee and cake/desert......as I have done so in the past. Although after 3.00pm there were a lot of diners inside. Being too cold outside we ventured in and asked for a table. The man that "greeted us", having heard we were only wanting of coffee begrudgingly led us to a table which he quickly wiped down. When asked if they served cakes he replied in a rude tone: "We are not a cafe! I can get you a desert menu". He did fetch us a desert menu and as we worked out our choices of beverages and desert we continued to wait for 15minutes with no service. I looked around. Surely if you were meant to order at the counter there would have been an instruction sign or at least the guy who made us feel like undervalued patrons might have let us know. We were really wanting the service I was familiar with in the past but we left with a bitter taste in our mouths because of this one particular bearded male employee, not remotely familiar with customer service. We enjoyed Vasse Virgin, as anticipated.. .just a shame we did not have the same experience in Fino Restaurant. One bad experience does influence one's perception of a service. It had previously been a reliable place to sit, eat...
