What a very mixed bag for this visit. We were very grateful to be fit in a very booked and busy night without a reservation. Seating outside but we were happy with this. We were seated for ages so I went in to order only to be told they come to us. We were placing our order and asking if changes could be made to our meals, is kind of where it went down hill. Server wasn’t sure how to put it in the iPad, had the impression she was new. Sought help from another server who said she didn’t know so would speak to the chef. The change was about adding a sauce. Said we were happy to wait for her to ask. They were gone for a bit and entree’s started to arrive. I asked how these could arrive when we haven’t actually finished ordering? She smiled and walked away. They later came back and asked if we are ready for our meals, I said we haven’t finished ordering she said that’s right sorry and left again. I called her back saying can we confirm our order and made changes to simplify it. Meals arrived soon after and still missed items but they were rectified. We were confused with one of the dishes as it was a sweat and sour stir fry combination but it arrived looking more like a soup? (See pic). End of the day this could be a one off experience but could have been much improved with better communication. The flavours were nice and definitely good potential but on this visit we were...
Read moreUnfortunately my wife and I had a very unpleasant experience on Valentine's night. We had a decent meal and the food was good. I went to the counter and paid then we sat at our table for another 15mins finishing our drinks. We left the premises and walked to the main road to wait at the pedestrian lights (we live locally and had walked there). Suddenly there was a female Thai staff member standing behind us accusing us of not paying, She was confrontational and loud. She did not believe me when I said we'd paid. She insisted that we go back to the restaurant. We did, and her arrogant tone continued as she interrogated us at the counter in front of other customers (guilty until proven innocent). She asked me to identify which eftpos machine I'd tapped on. Of course I didn't know as I'd just tapped whatever one was held up to me. My wife then logged in to Internet banking on her phone. She showed the staff member the payment transaction as proof we had paid. Even then, the staff member did not bother to apologise or say sorry. Other staff were walking past and all ignored our situation. It was a very disappointing and demeaning experience. That judgemental staff member ruined our Valentine's evening. It will be quite some time before we go to Thai Lotus again,...
Read moreI'm not about bad reviews unless it is incredibly warranted. But just thought this review might help others choose what to order. Food here has very generous portion sizes, every curry and stir fry I've ordered (Ginger stir fry is my favourite) has been fantastic and the staff always beautiful - incredible value for money! Probably the cheapest Thai restaurant for dinner on the Coast! Not many include rice in their pricing like Thai Lotus Wurtulla does. So generous and so appreciated. I think many people would agree with me when I say a good Pad Thai is hard to find and a reason why I don't often order this dish from Thai restaurants but I gave it a go here and I wasn't the biggest fan. Perhaps just my opinion and I maybe I should have tried it before I squeezed the lemon wedge over it but I felt as though it didn't quite have that balance of sweet, tangy and salty quite right, had a tone of red onion in there too which was a bit overpowering. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the green onions and shallots. Maybe the advice here is to try before...
