Not sure what the other people have been eating prior to giving this Restaurant good reviews?? We started with drinks my partner ordered Jasmine tea which came out luke warm - this was corrected by the lovely young girl who was obviously new. San Chow Bow - well it definitely was not like we had had at any other Chinese Restaurant it was like grandma's savoury beef mince (but lacked the savoury flavor or any flavor to be honest) in a lettuce leaf - the lettuce leaf was at least Iceberg Lettuce and crispy. Second course we had fried rice - which had a smokey taste but was ok although a little gluggy but with it we had honey chicken must say I have never had honey chicken that bad before, couldn't even taste the honey and it was soggy and tough to chew. We had the port ribs in plum sauce - well that was mediocre tough and chewy. The young girl serving was nice but when she asked us if our main meals were good we smiled and said they were ok - poor girl was obviously new and didn't know how to respond. The other customers were all lot older than us ie 70 - 80's and replied to the girl it was nice. We eat out at least 2 - 3 times a week and like good honest tasty food and have been to hundreds of Chinese Restaurants but this one was definitely near the bottom of the pack for food. The service was nice, the restaurant very old and cold. Definitely not a restaurant we would consider...
Read moreAte at this establishment as a once off with my partner as we are travelling and staying nearby, despite checking reviews prior to booking and seeing concerning negative ones.
Staff were very welcoming and we had our order taken and served by 2 adolescents. No issues and obviously a family unit running the place, Always nice to see.
Out of the food we ate, the San Choy bao (albeit light on filling for price) and sweet and sour chicken were both great and better than average. The Chicken chow mein and veg fried rice were just okay, wouldn't recommend really.
I had a coke to drink which arrived with some kinda of slippery/jelly-like object among the ice and was extremely off putting. I had this replaced but was still reluctant to drink my next one, which was very flat…
General dining area is in desperate need of some TLC. it’s not hard to get a ladder and do some dusting of cobwebs and such. Also, for any hospitality establishment, throw out any plates that have chips and cracks on them, or make sure they don’t see guests at least. It’s unprofessional and can be a health and safety risk.
This place is lacking some required let alone basic quality control, and would not recommend to anyone despite having a competitive sweet and sour chicken to my local. At least I haven’t become ill from the food or...
Read moreWe have eaten both in the restaurant and (more frequently) take-away since we moved to Sunshine Coast over 25 years ago. Last Saturday night (17/8) we ordered a couple of our long time favourite dishes - fried rice, chicken omelette and chicken and cashews, (with extra cashews). To say we were immensely underwhelmed by the quality of meals we received is an understatement. Fried rice was dry and smelt burnt, chicken omelette was tiny in size and filling (compared to previous ones) and the chicken and (extra) cashews was a disgrace. 4 cashews and 3 tiny pieces of chicken, with very large chunks of almost raw veggies was beyond disappointing. Don't know what is going on in their kitchen at the moment, but whatever it is had better be attended to promptly, before their previously good reputation is...
